Karen and I are really looking forward to this great weekend.

Event Name idea, "The Galena 100"

Heres another link for more info about Galena, http://www.galena.org/

Karen and I will be staying at, http://www.snoopsistersinn.com/ they may still have a room or two open.

FYI, when I was calling B&B's most want two night min, but if you call the week of, you may find some that are not booked and will give you just one night. Sometimes late planning can work.

I just booked a room at The View Motel. They still have several rooms available at $60 per night.

UPDATE

Paul with Blake in the nav seat, Karen and I hit the roads of Galena today.

WOW! We found some great roads, one so hard and risky to drive we are not going to put it on the route.

We found more roads then anyone could drive in a day. The event will be two days, driving all new roads both days. We are working out the details and will post an all new Thread once we have all the details worked out.

The best part of today was the fact that so few people use the roads we found. If you are thinking of doing this event, please look above and book your hotel NOW!

I had to drive out to Galena for work from Chicago - 160 miles each way. It was a nice drive, and it is truly beautiful out there.

Hey Leek, if you liked that, you do not want to miss the route we have planned. I bet you got stuck on HWY 20? You will see very little of 20 on our routes by design. A fest for the eyes and tires.

Dang! If only I owned a MINI, I'd come along.

The one and only BMW Z3 drive I've ever attended was in Galena.
Unfortunately, it took place a couple weeks after my son rolled my ///M Roadster, so my wife and I rode along with another couple (they owned his & hers ///M Roadsters at the time).

I took 90 to Rockford, then 20 after that, yes. With no visible gas stations for 60 or 90 miles!

And there was a REALLY nasty accident on the way home. In Lena I think. There's this intersection with no stop or blinker or anything on the US20 side (not sure about what the road was crossing, and if the overhead light blinked in the other direction). Anyway, it's a dip and in all directions you zoom down into this intersection, and if you're going a tad quickly, it's sudden. Two big SUV things had hit each other, there was lots of blood in one of the vehicles, and a very stunned driver of the other vehicle.

I think we can give Doug a BMW pass for the two days, it's might be nice having Big Brother there, some of us may even need his help.

Thanks for the offer! But I did the ride-along before; no fun, feeling like cargo.

I'll just have to hurry up and convince the boss that I deserve to own TWO toys!

I'd like to meet up for one of the days! If the BF doesn't want to go, I'll go Saturday. If he wants to go, then we'll go Sunday. Hopefully we don't have to worry about this, but... what is the plan if the weather is not so nice?

I imagine the plan would be "drive more cautiously."

That was meant more for some of our stops along the way that seem to be outdoors. Some sliding thing and a park?

The slide is at a big resort with large indoor area and food service. The rest of the stops will be adjusted if needed based on weather.
