Cabrio Rear Side Windows

Am I the only one that dislikes that both the rear side windows go up and down at the same time? Wouldn't it be nice if each one operated individually, just like on a real car. Anyone ever modify theirs to work individually, or is it a Cabrio auto operation only curse??

No, you're not the only one...my kids complained about it a few weeks back. My son, who's a top down, window open person wanted his window open...and my daughter who is his exact opposite in this universe wanted hers closed.

Since the top is down on this car the majority of the time, I wasn't going to concern myself with a fix...

Heh heh... My kids have complained/argued about this a time or two. To which I reply "tough!" and put them however I want them. When they're 41 and it's their car and they have kids, they can do the same. I'm sure I'm damaging my kid's sensitive psyche by being so harsh and unaccomodating....

BTW, I like Blimey's attitude... I think we have similar parenting "skills".

You mean my car has windows?!? Oh yeah - those things that the mrs makes me put up occasionally to keep her hair from flying wild.

The MINI is not a real car, it is a car of dreams. If they build it, we will buy it!

My rear windows can go up separately. Sometimes. But I don't do it on purpose.

(Just another endearing quirk, I guess.)

I usually motor with the driver-side window down and the rest up, including the rear windows. I don't like the look of them down for whatever reason. I guess I'm just weird like that.

Although my kids will not be spending a lot of time in the back seat of my mini, it would be nice when they do to have the option of opening and closing the windows. I would argue for separate controls in the back seat as well. By the way, when I closed the top on my car, the right side window did not automatically go up. However, it did go up with the button. Hopefully, this does not indicate some problem in the software!

That is not normal. They should all go up with the close top button. You will need to have it checked.

BTW, this occasionally happens to my windows. When I brought the car to the dealer for its 1st oil change, I told them about it. Of course, they couldn't replicate it. But at least I have this issue on file.

rear windows/back seats

Now when I close the top, neither rear windows go up... I will be scheduling an appointment with dealer. I am a little gun shy since my Saab 'vert had very expensive electronic top problems but only after ten years. Two weeks is a little distressing.
On the kids note, I have been a little surprised about the fit in the back seat. My original perspective that the cabrio was a two seater with a back seat for groceries only. I am 6'3", my wife is 5'9", daughter #1 is 5'10", and daughter #2 is 5'5" and we all can fit relatively comfortably (at least for short rides) in the car. However, I wouldn't propose it for a 4 hour trip to the Sierra's.

Turns out this is a fairly common problem. Mine did the same thing - right window and everything. South Bay Mini was able to replicate it and changed the BC-1. So far, problem gone.

Now I'm not so sure I like it and kinda wish it still did it because it was the only way to have one rear window up and another down.
