New to MINI Family... just bought 06 MCS

Picked up an 06 MCS on friday. So far im loving it. Question...Car feels like it has a bit of body roll stock..What is the norm for a Rear Sway bar and strut brace? It feels good to be back in a great car.. My previous cars are an e46 M3 and most recently an 04 R32. R32 was an amazing car. Hated letting go of it. But Im sure I will grow to love the MCS just as much. Just need to drive it some more and have some more fun..

Hi and Welcome to NAM. Lots of great info. and MINI peeps. I'm sure someone will pipe in with the answers to the questions you asked about the sway bar, etc.

After seeing what you drove before I can see how you noticed roll-I had a much harder time and still am impressed by how flat it corners for a stock car-but M3's and R32's are factory hotrods so...

I have heard very good things about M7's suspention mods, definatly worth a look.

actually the R32 has some body roll to it also...Put a 22MM sway bar in that one..Completely changed the car..Felt like it was on rails with the AWD.

Welcome to the MINI family. Find a twisty road and have fun with your car. The MINI is one of those cars that begs to be flogged and still delivers the grins. A thicker rear swaybar definitely makes a difference but I don't come from an M3 or R32 so cannot comment on comparisons to their handling characteristics. I do enjoy my MINI more than any Volkswagon I've ever driven though.

I'm not sure about a front strut brace though. Some have said it makes a difference but nobody has been able to actually quantify that. But the rear bar does make a noticeable difference. Out of the box, a MINI is very well sorted out. However, like most other cars, there are lots of mods out there to make improvements to suit your tastes.

Cheers!
