New member intro, and Cabrio Hunting...

Hello, I am brand new to the forum, along with wifey to find a Cabrio and start modding! I was going to go to the intro part, but thought I would kill 2 birds here

I own a Chrysler 300C SRT 8 that I just got, and she drives a BMX X5. We are looking for something to play with on the weekends, and this car is big enough and cool enough and doesn't have a top which makes it all the better...

We live in AZ, so the top will be down alot, except I guess in the summer where the sweltering heat could easily liquify the skin from your forehead.

I have never owned a cabrio, Lisa has - but I have owned almost everything else. I checked Autotrader, cars.com, ebay and the forums...

I would rather have a hard top (I am trying to pitch to her that cutting the hard roof and installing a removeable glass is do able if anyone has done this, or has pics at least, that would be a huge help!)

Color is not a big concern, although out other 2 cars are Silver so scratch that and I would love to stay under $24000 so it it will have to be a 05 or 06 - by the way if I buy from a individual instead of the dealers I do NOT HAVE TO PAY THE 8 PERCENT SALES TAX IN AZ!!!

I will enjoy adding some go fast parts and suspension stuff, but I am not wanting to make it undriveable. All upgrades will be tasteful and should help performance. I can't wait to make a deal, if anyone has suggestions, and or are selling one let me know!

Good luck with the search...it sounds like you and I had a similar start with this.

While a hard top was not a choice for me...finding one lightly used was. My search through craigslist, autotrader, ebay, and cars.com found a whopping 22 cars country wide that met my criteria (manual, convertible, S). After 3 weeks of searching, and when found - 3 additional weeks to transfer the guys title...I got the prefect car with under 9000 miles. I'm sure you will too...just be patient.

Also, just keep in mind, the 'vert looks so much better than the hardtop. Can I get a 'hellya' from the contingency

Howdy, and welcome to NAM!

Patience is the key... it took me about 6 weeks to find my MINI cabrio, and the only reason I got it was because it had to have (and had) everything I wanted on it. I actually found mine online at CarMax. Had I not found it, I imagine I would've eventually ordered one.... Cheers!

Thank you for the welcome!

I checked Craigslist in a few areas, and I think there are a lot out there. I guess its really more up to me making a right choice on color first. Its so hard there are TOOOOOOOOO MANY CHOICES!

I have searched a bunch of places for pics of cars, like the galleries and things. Does anyone have links to see more mini convertibles? Just to see what mods look good?

Welcome and good luck!

I don't know of any cabrio-only galleries. Though if you read through the threads in the cabrio forum here, and look at the individual galleries for the posters, you'll find quite a few pics.

Oh... and Hellya!

And don't fail to look at Blimey's blog (link on his post #7) for details and pics of many mods.

Blimey - I just noticed your teaser of the new chrono gauge faces . . . dang! I've been avoiding that temptation because it wasn't available for chrono -- but now . . .

Yeah - I've been running the black Outmotoring gauge faces for a week now and love 'em. Just gotta find a solution for the actual Chrono pak - I'm going to take mine apart soon and Aaron and I are going to see if a similar (simpler) face is possible...

Hopefully Aaron will have the speedo/tach faces available soon. I gave him the thumbs-up on fit of the production samples last week.

^ unfortunately, I'm not sure I'd want to replace the speedo/tach only -- do you have a pic that shows them along with the OEM chrono pak? Do they look funny in contrast?

- Edit -- sorry about hijacking the thread; I should've PMed
