Lightweight crank pulley on ONE/Cooper? Pls comment

Hi all,

I'm interested in Alta Lightened Crank Pulley for my 2004 CVT ONE. What size shd I go for, 2% or 0% (oem size)? Will it cause any problem?

I did a search abt lightweight crank pulley and most of the result is abt MCS .Any ONE/Cooper owner has it? Please comment

Thanks alot

The One/Cooper Crank pulley is almost as light as those for the MCS. There is NO benefit from this mod.

I'm sorry to disagree with R50 Paul with the weight of the crank pullies for the MC and the MCS. The MC's OEM pullie is a bit lighter and than the MCS pulley. The after market pulley for the MC (0%) is a tad bit lighter but the weight difference wouldn't make any real noticable changes. If you decide to go with a lightened crank pulley from Alta, you need to heat the pulley prior to placing it on the crank. I experienced this difficulty and decided not to bother with the lightened pully.

The R50 MC has a non-damped pulley (weighs 3#), so not quite as much benefit
going to a lighter crank pulley as on an MCS.

The older style R53 MCS pulley has a damped pulley (weighs 7.3#).
The newer R53 MCS pulley is lighter but still damped (about 5.8#)

Also, the MC flywheel is only about 17# compared to the MCS at 27#

HAHAHA That's what I ment to say in my post!!!! So the genral consensous is do the mod if you want but you won't gain anything but a thinner wallet and another check on the mod list.
