Opinion Request on Sale Price (29k)

I just got back from MINI of Nashville where I was quoted 29,000 for a MSC with the following:

Sparkling Silver, Black Top/Mirrors, White Turn Signals, JCW Aero Kit, Premium Package, Sport Suspension, Xenon Headlamps, Limited Slip Differential, Chrome Line Interior, Center Arm Rest, Anthracite Headliner, Leatherette, Paino Black Surface, iPod interface.

One thing I did note was that on the website the aero package is right around 1500-1600. The price they quoted me was 2550 saying that that included installation price.

This price was to include everything such as processing fees and such. I'm just wondering if this is a good deal, average deal, or not good deal. And also if I would have any luck checking out other dealers. I told them once they gave me the quote that I was going to spend the next 2 or 3 days internetting around trying to find a better deal (they insist that MINI does not haggle or negotiate and that's fine if they don't) and if I couldn't find a better deal, I'd hand them a check by the end of next week.

Thanks for any advice/opinions you might have

Build it in the configurator on www.miniusa.com. That should tell you exactly. Your MA was right on the fact that they don't haggle. I haven't heard of anyone getting a discount... maybe on some accessories, etc. but not off of MSRP, unless it is old stock the dealer is trying to push.

Actually, the guy and I built it together at the showroom. The only 2 things that were different between the build yours now price was the inflated JCW Areo Kit (2550 instead of whatever it was online) and the 500 iPod thing (and assorted fees and charges like tag, licensing, etc.). I guess what i'm worried about was the doubling of the JCW package due to installation fees then 'removing' the extra to make it seem like I was getting a 'deal' when it looks like I was just getting the MSRP of the car.

Maybe I'm just a lil' biased against car dealers/salesmen but it felt a little sleazy to me.

Oh... ok... I see that in your post now. Sorry, but I think it's a pretty intensive accessory to install and I think they charge somewhere around 95-100 an hour. Hope that helps.

Correct, they don't haggle or deal, you pay MSRP. The only differences may be on the installation charges for the aero kit or iPod interface. I've seen a wide fluctuation here on what people have been quoted for it (iPod interface) installed. The only other price that really varies is any dealer prep fees. If you are concerend about their installation charges check with any other dealers that may be close to you, they may give you a better price, they may not. But otherwise, plan on paying MSRP.

yea everything in step 5 of the configurator prices are only for the product. when you go from step 4 to 5 a pop up window comes up and says "that these prices don't include installation or painting". next time you go to the confiurator when you go from step 4 to step 5 read that pop up screen that you have to click on saying you read and accept the terms to go to add the JCW areo kit

by the way who was your sales person? i just ordered my mini from John Monk of mini of Nashville. great guy and very helpful

Some of the options are priced wrong on the website. The really need to update it.

Justin is who I dealt with there. Again mini of Nashville doesnt want to deal on cars but at least they dont charge over MSRP.

I ended up buying mine though in Memphis. 500 off of MSRP

Apparently although I got me a college edumkation I can't read or more likely... didn't pay attention to the pop up. Thanks, I thought I was getting a fair deal, just wanted to make sure.

As far as MINI of nashville goes, I spoke with justin on the phone once begging to get an MCS w/ the chrono gauges (no dice unless I bought the convertible) and delt with Jeremy Furlong (also a nice guy, also made me cry when I attempted to get the Chrono guages but that's life).

The only problem I have with MINI of Nashville is being so close to all the BMWs next door/ in the other lot made me drool and drooling is never all that cool (not that mini's aren't droolable, it's just a different kinda drool).

yea i made the same mistake last year when i went to test drive an 06 mini. i thought the price for the stuff in step 5 was the cost till john told me that was just for the part and did not count the installation fee. i was like you i just click the ok button so i can finish customizing the mini at the time.

yea but the BMWs are cost much more money

I think if no one else has posted in the thread and you are the original poster you can delete the original post, but once there is a reply, you cannot. At least I think that is how it works. But yes, as Soul Embrace said, it will eventually scroll off provided replies stop being posted.

There was a "For Sale" thread of R56 with JCW Aero Kit in the classifieds forum.

Nice deal, birdman! Was it difficult, or did you just have to ask for it?

I ended up getting: Dark Silver, Black Top/Mirrors, JCW Aero Kit, Premium Package, Sport Suspension, Xenon Headlamps, Limited Slip Differential, Chrome Line Interior, Center Arm Rest, Anthracite Headliner,Punch Black Leather, Paino Black Surface, iPod interface. for just over 30.

I called around and Charlotte and Nashville gave me the best (same) price while Memphis and Jax were almost 1k more (but Memphis did offer to throw in floor mats)

semirgj,
I was charged $2,550 for my JCW Aero Kit so I think you're OK. My dealer gave me the color line for N/C, dealer prep fee for N/C, and free floor mats. That's about $390 I saved. I was pleased

Not haggling for MINI's is a myth. I walked into the MINI dealership here with information in a big folder I prepared (car dealerships HATE the folder) with print-outs from Edmunds.com and a few other web sites on their invoice price and started there, asking how much profit they wanted to make on the sale, instead of going down from MSRP. I was able to get a good deal by haggling on a car that I ordered direct from the factory (i.e., not something on their floor).

You could just take the parts to a reputable body shop and have them paint it and install it. May save a little.

Don't know about the aero kit, but take all other options and pricing fronm miniusa.com, then subtract 5%, and that should be what you pay for your car. Unless of course, your a wacko from the Califorwierdpeople area and want to pay OVER sticker price!! I still can't figure that out.

Would you guys mind sharing which dealerships you purchased from? The dealer here won't go down on a price unless the car is heavily optioned, like near 30K optioned. I figure, why try to fight the local guys? Maybe somone else will deal and ship...I'm in Maryland, btw.

The New York dealers have huge inventories and may want to deal on an 07, but most dealers are at MSRP or above.

Got 2% off on an ordered MCS. This was offered to me on the spot without asking as an incentive to lure me from a closer dealership. Difference in travel time between the two is only about 20 minutes though!

Well, mine was over 30k, with lots of "options". But try Mini of the Hamptons in NY. They told me they ship LOTS of cars...
