How do I turn off daytime running lights?

I followed the direction in the manual on page 62 - 63 and when I get to step 6 the light icon doesn't show up. I know this is kind of a vague question but can anyone post the steps that they used to turn on or off the daytime running lights? I know those preferences are stored in the key fob would it make a difference if I have comfort access?

I know for my manual transmission MINI, I had to push the "START/STOP" button twice to get it into the "ignition on" step. You should have idiot lights lit up on the speedo and tach when you have ignition on. If you're only in "radio on" mode instead of "ignition on" you won't find the icon you're looking for.

Tried that I get to the point where i can scroll down through all the icons but the icon for daylight running lights doesn't come up. I can scroll through icons when there's the key icon showing up in the display on the tach, and when there's the key with the check mark all I can set is the date and time.

You weren't moving at the time, were you? I noticed that some options don't come up if I'm not stopped.

Nope wasn't moving. I think something is screwed up with the programming. My auto-lights mode stays on no matter where I set the dial on the stalk. So for example it's impossible for me to have lights off at night and the engine running and can't get ambient lights to work.

The car is going in for service in a couple days.

When I called them the person I spoke to sad that they have to program the daylight running lights, I mentioned that it's completely contrary to what it says in the manual also it's a feature that can be set differently depending on which key is being used, so we'll see how this works out. Hope it's something they can fix easily without tearing up the car.

This seems to be a problem on the early MINIs that came out. They are missing a few options. Try looking for the 3 blink signals too. I bet they are missing (along with door lock functions). I think there needs to be a software update to get them.

Having the running lights on all the time was one of the options that could be set by the dealer before delivery. It's easy enough for them to change the default.

My MA programmed off the daytime running lights when I took delivery using the car menu settings using the turn signal buttons like you describe using the manual. Now during the day the upper half of the fog lights are on and the little light on the front wheel arch. I think those cannot be turned off.

I just picked up my MINI 3 days ago on June 30th. So it's not an early build.

Actually, I think it's the other way around. MINI has decided to eliminate some of the user changeable options. grrrrrrrrrrrr.

No I ordered mine. Did the painful wait and everything. But also I can't turn off the auto-lights at night, they don't switch back to daylight running lights neither turn off. Like if I turn the stalk to the other options the lights stay on just the dash lights go on and I can't get the ambient lights to work. If this is a new software update or something they totally f#*%ed it up.

I don't know if it makes a difference with sat nav. That's one of those options that those of us with sat nav can adjust using the nav screen and the control buttons down by the gear shifter.

I have no problem changing the running lights on or off. Or changing the turn signal from one blink to three. Or back.

Not sure which page on the owner's manual; but it's there where you can turn it off.
