Suspension Tire Size and lowering
Tire Size and lowering
The wheels that I'm buying shortly come with 205/45-17s. Somewhere down the line, prolly not for another year, I for sure want this thing a little lower. But, my question is, will I have to switch to a 40 series sidewall when I lower it to avoid rubbing? I'm trying to avoid this here in the pothole capital of the world. I've heard both sides with some saying yes and others saying no.
I am pretty sure that you would not have to, but maybe PM some of the veterans...no offense to your 4th gear...anyone at any of the vendors dealing with performance. Not to plug m7...like I seem to do often...but Randy and Peter have helped me alot in the past, but most anyone can help you on here.
45's will give you a softer ride than a 40 series.
40's will give you better cornering.
I think that this issue is one more of preference.
Hope all works well.

I'm running 225x45x17 with a 22mm Alta adjustable rear sway bar and lower springs & EBC cross drilled all around with 5mm Eiback spacers (sse my gallery) = no rubbing with two people during very spirited driving. Just went to the Dragon last weekend to test it. The results are outstanding - just do it! The entire car handling improved 100%, very predictable and sticky as glue.
