First Post - approx 1300 miles on Cooper S '07
Hello All:
Just wanted to drop a note - Much if not all about my new MINI - is still quite new to me - what with my car being all of about 3 weeks old. Just a couple of observations.
Struck by the quality feeling of just about all of the components. First time I sat in a Cooper - the double sun roof and the width of the car give one the impression that you are in a much larger car than that sustained by cold measurements. I recently had to give up a Porsche 944 - which I owned from new in 1984. Must say - the 944 - though I loved the car, did not have the get up and leave that my S shows.
Perhaps - rather than preaching to the choir - I am sure you guys know all the great attributes - so I will just say - I enjoy the drive so much - I still havn't gotten around to pushing that 'sport' button. Maybe today - ...after I figure out how to use the radio....
Regards to all-
Barry

Barry, welcome to The Cool Kid Table!
what IS this sporty button you speak of? i'm guessing its just on the automatics?
i had an 07 base model rental from Knauz (CR/W) and i was disapointed with the new cluster and all the stuff that was on the speedo- are all newer models like that? i LOOOOOVE my 03 interior- its really clean, simple to use, and is kinda masculine (great for when you just gotta man-handle the car...ahhhhhhhhhh i'm good.)
years down the line when its time to trade in The Chap- i don't know if i can get down with those clusters!

update - 07 S - questions
Hello All:
Running the 17" wheels w run flat Dunlops - which seem to be inflated to 1000 lbs on each corner. So - as one accelerates out of a corner - or is transversing a rough patch - needs to be aware of a little bunny hop or perhaps bump steer. Kind of disconcerting for us rear drive types. Is this something front drivers just come with to either lesser or greater degrees?
So what is the accepted best response to question re oil change intervals? At about 1400 miles - when I start up - see 16000 miles with a day in March - of 2009, yet as my 'next' or should I say hopefully - first service. Can that really be possible? When we were paying for the service - the dealerships could'nt get us in quick enough or often enough. But anyway - love the car - and I alsmost pushed the sport button.
Regards to all.

Regarding the oil change interval... the service indicator will tell you when to go in for regular maintenance. If you go in before it tells you to do so, you'll probably have to pay for the "extra" oil change. If in doubt, speak to an SA at the dealership your going to go to for service.
Welcome Barry! Come on out and join the fun
did you hit that "sport" button yet??
