We won a 2007 MC

As a long time member of NAM I never thought I would be posting in the 2007 forum. I guess I am a little biased and wasn't sold on the redesign, plus I got a new MCSC in Dec, so I won't be in the market for a new MINI for several years.
Anyway, the bf and I were at MoT (MINIs on top) this weekend in NH and we won a free 2 year lease of a MY/B MC.
We haven't taken ownership yet, but looks like I will be frequenting this forum more then I anticipated.

Is it an auto or standard?? It'll probably drive me nuts going back and forth between two MINIs, especially an MCS and a Cooper automatic. Both are great...it'd just be hard to adjust between the differences in how they perform.

Congrats on the win!

Not trying to be a downer here, but don't forget to keep in mind that you need to claim the value of the lease payments (for 2 years) as income and pay taxes on them. Make sure you talk with a tax professional to find out how to minimize your liability.

I went through all of this back in '03 when I won a new Escalade from a raffle. Ended up working a deal to trade it when I got my new M3.

Congratulations, meg !

How lucky can a person get ?

Me, I once played in a golf tournament along with 103 other golfers. They gave out door prizes at the end of the day and I didn't win a darn thing. Not unusual, right ? Well, there were 100 prizes. Me and 3 other people... nothing.

That's a gorgeous MINI, too. I'm already planning my next MINI... MY/W with white/black bonnet and boot stripes and checkered mirrors. Of course, they may not even be making MY when I'm ready to buy again, in about 4 years probably.

Oh well, TT, let's just look at it this way: We weren't blessed with good luck or a Free 2-Year Lease On A MINI Cooper, but.... we were blessed with the good health and means to buy our own.

True but the sad/funny part is that when there is a prize give-away I always stay til the bitter end & listen to the winners names being called & hoping beyond hope that I will hear mine even though it just ain't a gonna happen

It's standard and 6-speed at that. So at least we won't be trying to find 6th gear-as both the bf and I currently drive 6 speeds (me the MCSC and him a Civic Si). But I am sure all of the other differences will certainly be apparent going from one to the other.

As for taxes and such, we've already asked the MA about it. She said last years winner paid about $400 tax on the car up front and we have a call into our accountant to see how/what gets claimed and paid.

Congrats Meg. Jeez, you get a free one and I have to sit here and wait.
Will be at MOT next year since it is right up the road from me.
