"What happened to your top up button cover" survey

Just curious. Did you get a cover for your top up button? Is it still on? Did you take it off? Did anything interesting happen to it?

I'll start. I got my cabrio July 17, 2006. The button cover is still on --and it's in great shape because I hardly ever use the top up button . (Just trying to follow the 90/10 rule.)

That makes almost 11 months of it bringing a smile to my face.

Unfortunately mine is a mystery. Cecilia didn't have it on when I bought her. I like to think that it was abducted by aliens when her top was down, and is hapily on thier spaceship top up button!

I got 'Rita on March 16, 2007. Her button fell off as soon as the weather heated up and the glue melted. Her button is safely locked away. I would love it if Asthetic Creations or ??? would make up small decal/stickers that we could apply by the switch.

NEMO's button just recently broke off (the plastic) the sticker is still in tacted, with a little bit of wear. That makes 2 years and 4 months motoring with it.

I'm going to be madder than hell if something happens to that cover! It's kind of like foreplay (can I say that) to dropping the top....makes you think twice before putting the top up. Guess I'll have to use the key more often to save the cover.

LilTiger didn't have one when I picked her up. It's probably best that I don't know what I'm missing.

Mine melted off after a month in the Southern California heat.

I let somebody drive my Mini and .......you know the rest of the story.

So, it's sitting safely in my glove box.

2 years and 8 days later still going strong, a slight peeling of 1 corner of the label is going to get a hint of adhesive to readhere it.

My label has some wear since my car is parked outside and the button gets lots of use, but the cover is still intact after 1year 10months.

Still hanging in there since October delivery. I assume that once it gets hot outside it will fall off.... I was planning to remove it after a month, but I thought I would miss it too much.

Mine came with one but I took it off and put it in my "MINI Collection" for safe keeping... along with a few extras I acquired..

Unfortunately, having never seen one, the first post doesn't really help me visualize it. was there a tiny cover with that whole message on it? was it a sticker next to the button?
No big deal -- don't need to run out and take a picture of it, but if someone happens to have one, it'd be nice to see what y'all are talking about.

It was (is) a little clear plastic cap that went over the top of the top up/down buttons. The label on it is what is posted in the first post. It is just big enough to cover the buttons. It's lightly glued on and usually falls off with the heat.

Four months into MINI ownership and the sticker is beginning to peel around the edges, and when the top is down (at least 90% of the time!), the cover seems to unlatch itself and flap in the breeze.

After two winters of taking my glove off to put the top up and down I finally figured out I could just gently pull the cover off. The car looks much more "finished" now and I can keep the gloves on. Of course, it is nearly summer.

My wife got the sticker right away seeing it as part and parcel of the air bag warning sticker. Rip before you read philosophy.

It has to be snapped shut, easily, so it doesn't flap in the breeze.
