R50/53 MINI - too cute for vandalism?
In the NSX community, there have been a fair share of vandalisms (keying, spat on, paint remover poored on car, etc). I also find Ferrari and Viper owners are experiencing the same thing.
I haven't heard of MINIs getting vandalized or anything - seems like people just smile when they see one. I hope this continues to be the case - I was wondering other peoples' thoughts, opinions or experiences.
It is really sad how people damage other people's property the way they do. :???:

I haven't had any experience personally with this in Alice, but I know that there have been several MCO members who've posted about vandalism to their babies.
It's a sign of the declining level of civilization in the world.

too cute for vandalism? i wish....some jackass punched my poor innocent mini when it was parked outside of my friends house. the dent is not horrible, but it is big, and just ugly. you can tell my mini got punched b/c you can see the knuckle's indentions and its about the size of a fist. when i first noticed it i was soooo mad. my friends uncle owns a body shop and will take it out for free sometime next week.

There is a guy in the VW Jetta forum over at Edmunds.com that got his '02 Jetta 1.8T set on fire by a group of vandals while he was at his house (They threw a molotov type cocktail inside the car) and obviously the interior is completely burned out. He is waiting for his insurance company to declare it a total loss.
Vandalism is a big problem.

DuNcE223,
Sorry to hear about your car! That's messed up! Glad you're having it fixed next week.

I think the kids in my neighborhood like me/my MINI enough that they'd beat the crap out of anyone that tried to mess with it. I'm not saying it won't happen, but it's nice to have a small army of loyal followers. I've had a car keyed and tires slashed, but that was when I was in HS and college. No real problems since I entered the real world.
Anyone touches my MINI and I KIll ya'. And the reason those other high end cars get vandalized is because people are jealous of them. And the owners of those cars tend to know it and flaunt it. Me, I could care less if I see a high end car. Runs on gas just like mine and dents if it hits something just like mine.
NoBull does have a valid if not PC point. Just like tha scene from Pulp Fiction, when Vincent and his dealer state that "Anyone that f**ks with another man's car should go straight to execution, no trial, no jury".
I've generally found that small British cars (MGs, Morgans, Triumphs, Minis, etc.) generally elicit a universal smile from folks. But as there are sickos everywhere, some people probably do get their jollies from vandalizing, although a MINI must be an opportunity rather than a targeted vehicle.
Remember this past January when some environmental wackos of ELF torched some SUVs in Penna. I think their resulting inferno put more hydrocarbons into the atmosphere than the SUVs whould have done in 100 years of motoring. Smart move ELF, Can I interest you in some flood free swampland?

>>I have heard of a couple of occurances of eggings, a keying and a couple dents. No cars are safe. People just don't have respect for other's property....
There was even on MINI that had the window smashed
There is always someone who looks at the MINI an instead of smiling, they are jealous (like they think it's expensive) or just dislike small cars for some (crazy moronic insane) reason.

I think the best reaction to this has to be Travolta's rant in Pulp Fiction.
Then again, there's always John Goodman in the Big Lebowski.
Seriously, someone was mentioning a few months ago about having trim stolen off their Mini.

Some people are just jealous or sickos, it doesnt matter if the NSX owner is a jerk its not right to ruin someones car.
I haven't had anything done like that to my MINI (does bird crap count?
)

I had to right an essay about that in my English class, those ELF people are really stupid.. theyre not helping anything by doin that.

I don't think any car is above being vandalized, I suppose it's really about your location. I have heard about MINIs being turned over when parked (big guys seeing small car and want to prove something) and not too far back there was a pic of a wrecked MINI for sale somewhere that had obviously been flipped in such a manner. So far I have been lucky.
It should be said tho.. you toucha my car, I breaka you face!

I'm guessing that you probably didn't do too well on that paper based on this post.

True. I think some owners of those high end cars may rub people the wrong away - either by taking up 2 parking spaces, driving recklessly, etc. and may push other people over a certain limit to vandalize their car. There is a post that I really like: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/ownership/exoticcode.htm
So far I've been lucky with both the MINI and NSX - respecting other people on the road and parking lot I'm sure help.
