Exterior MODS!

Hello Board!

I own a 06' JCW Blue Mini S, and want to get some exterior upgrades.

I saw some fron grill replacements (black) and was wondering where I can find those from. Are they a complete replacement? (upper grille and lower grille).

What is the cheapest and safest way of lowering the car about 2 inches?

The black Aero grilles are available thru any MINI dealer (Morristown MINI and Classic MINI give nice discounts), or thru A/M vendors like Outmotoring.

The upper (bonnet) grille is a piece of cake to install; the middle one (in the upper bumper) is more involved.

Lowering 2 inches? Well, that rules out springs-only, as that will only get you down an inch or so. Coilovers will get you lower, but at a cost: $800-2000. Plus alignment.
Do a little searching in this sub-forum for some great ideas for mods, there is no end of ways to you-ify!

www.m7tuning.com has the "ultimate" grilles.

M7 has the lowest drop I believe, at 1.5" both front and back with springs, but to get 2" you'll need to go to Coilovers. H&R make them, I believe Koni does, Blisstein does, M7 does, etc. there are many choices.

I don't think there is a cheap way to lower 2" and retain good drivability...

How are the M7 Sport springs compared to the H-sport ones?

Which ones should I get? Any other brand of springs I should consider and where can I get it from?

I want to replace the whole front grill (the one on the hood, and the one on the front bumper)
Is this all I need to replace both the front and bottom grills?

That one is for the lower bumper. This one is for the hood and upper bumper: http://www.m7tuning.com/parts/produc...products_id=22

M7s have more drop than H-sports and both have good reputations...

I believe Mini L is wanting the black aero grills; not the M7 ultimate grills.

Go to an event such as AMVIV or MOTD etc, and look at what other folks have done. If nothing else, you will get some ideas about what you do NOT want to do.

Check the gallery pics here on NAM and go to Aesthetic Creations' and Cooper Flags, and other "graphics" sites. Check our "Fireballed Tim's site for some REALLY wild exterior mods. There is a thread called "Show your Lowered Mini" or something like that with lots of pics of lowered cars. Orciari's site shows off their aero kit to best advantage.

There are many trade-offs involved with lowering -- especially with the amount of 2", as opposed to an inch or less. Be careful on that one and do a lot of research before you do it. Can get costly, what with coil-overs being just the first step. You'll probably best need to do some camber changes too, the "whole-nine-yards," so to speak.

Whatever you do, best of luck and keep having fun. NO REGRETS!!

I'm going to order those grills, and the silver mesh for the lower front bumper.

Great website!

Now, I need to take a look out for the sponsors on this forum, and get on their websites!

The link you posted earlier is the version for an aero bumper, which I assume you don't have. The one for a standard bumper is here.
