June topic :: In your hometown...
Interpret that how you will, keeping in mind that the photos must be MINI related and that only one photo per member per month may be submitted.
That is the Chamber of Commerce official slogan for Prescott.
This month should be a piece of cake.
Kurt, you do realize that the typical interpretation for "hometown" is an urban environment? Beautiful landscape vistas with red skies completely devoid of all dwellings, businesses, and evidence of humans is a hard sell.
I hope no one's considering this to be a difficult topic. Dave came up with this one on his own (It was one he had been thinking about doing for quite some time).. I wanted a water or carwash themed topic, but was told that had already been done in the past and that Dave himself was the one that won that month's contest.
jsut seems like they are more vibrant in person, then when I see the pic online.
I agree, often what I end up with from the camera doesn't do the original scene justice.
Take a look at your camera's manual. Oftentimes there is a saturation or vibrancy setting you can adjust. Or spend a little time with the software that came with your camera as there is typically sort of vibrancy/saturation adjustment in all photo editing software.

Nope, good topic IMHO. I just went exploring for some good local urban clutter at lunchtime and will head back when the lighting is better. I'm visualizing in B&W this month... I look forward to seeing everyone's photos soon.
Would it be possible to change the new "auto image shrink" scripts on NAM to 801 pixels wide before a small sized preview is made? It's a PITA to have to expand most of the contest photos just so they can be viewed properly before voting.
Regarding the topic of "In your hometown...", umm, I'll assume you have a "home" to park your Mini at when you sleep, so where your "home" is located is your current "hometown". But maybe I'm simplifying it too much here. I don't suspect there are too many cardboard box dwellers here?
So I got up early, drove non-stop (all green lights, no traffic, it was sooooooooooo nice) and set up in front of:

I like how the St. Micheals gives a glow, like a sunset.
This is the house on the banner, known as The Marks House. We had our wedding reception here, after the Judge hitched us (the Courthouse is a short walk away).
