Interior/Exterior Armrest
>>Closer inspection shows that the installation of this armrest occupies the only usable cupholder and is thus unacceptable.
Where did you see the armrest? Could you give us a link? As for me, no one is ever in my back seat so I don’t see a problem for myself.

Guys:
When you access CTD's info, you get the CTD website new-mini-parts.de. Yes, it's in Germany. The snappy armrest is not yet available, but is listed in Euros as
E 169.95. This converts to $199.83. Beautiful to look at, but, YOWTCH

Good job- Some comments and suggestions:
Comments-
Nice dual oval arches to reflect the ovals on the doors-great idea.
Looks like if the hand brake is pulled all the way up it will be really close to hitting the armrest.
Nice thin arm rest pad- lighter design, lower design than others I have seen. Lacks storage
Suggestions-
If the mounting takes away the rear cupholder then design a built in replacement cupholder into the back of the arch design-perhaps in the middle so that no loss of function occurs.
Since space is an issue in the MINI-having some way to add more space would be really good.
The "metal" portion of the armrest could come in different colors to match the rest of the interior- anthracite, alloy patina, silver- maybe carbon fiber, wood grain, chrome.
Does the leather come in different colors to match the seats? Black, dark grey, cordoba brown, lapis blue, green?
How about a MC or MCS logo embossed on the leather?
What about a cloth option to match space cloth seats?

- the cupholder suggetion is verry good, but not possible yet

>>It's the best looking one i've seen so far...
Rocketboy_X,
Have you seen the one at Mini-Fini?
Very clean looking, and supposedly will be carried by MINI Dealerships.
I'm still debating about overall usefulness of an armrest myself. In my Passat, I would lean on it while driving, a kind of bored-type stance.
I don't seem to be bored in my MINI!
Cheers,
Bill

That one just looks weird... I think it would be pretty darn funny looking in the 'up' position...

Heh he.. you can say that again... I'm not sure if I ever had a car with an arm-rest... just to show how much I've ever used it..

>>its a very good looking armrest... but where does the front go into?
>>do you have to install those pieces as well?
It looks like it pops into those little cutouts on either side of the handbrake. I imagine they just pop out, and the arm rest pops in.
Cheers,
Bill
