I just installed them after 2 years of being in my Craftsman roll away. We will see if I run into the same problem.

Lots and lots of moly-lube seems to help.

I had these Alta arms for about three weeks and almost went nuts!
It is a job to lube them, and it is a job to keep them lubed.

They are reallly meant for racing applications only but Alta doesn't tell you that. You will regularly see them for sale on NAM from people that didn't ask the right questions (like me) before they bought.

I switched to Ireland's arms - no noises and good, adjustable fit.

Mine sound like I have a loose marble in a coffee can in the back of the car.

I'm putting a set of them on this weekend.....but now I'm hesitant based on these posts. Has the moly-lube solved the problem?

Heim joints make noise guys. They are not supposed to be lubed. The lube will hold dirt and mess up the joint.

I am working with Jeff at Alta right now on the issues with the heim joint wear issue and will update as it progresses. And unless you plan on cleaning and regreasing about twice a month, I would not put lube on them either. Think toothpaste, abrasives in grease from the road in pretty short order.

Expect about 20k mi of street use before the play becomes a problem .

Oh well, I guess I've run into the creaking problem...well, I've got that creak for a while now, to tell the truth. But I'm finally got annoyed with it. I've seen Alta sells v2.0 arms now, in red. Are they any better about the creaking? If not, which arms are silent, and still easy to adjust/grease (if that's needed)? I've gathered that IE and H-Sport are the best about that, is that true? I'm a bit cautious about IE, their anti-roll bar made me nuts with the uniball bearings of the endlinks...and I swapped it for an Alta bar . I guess I might do the opposite now for the control arms

Do the control arms still have the noise problems and as the previous poster said, rusting?

I've had mine for two years with the new heim joint and no noise. First style joint made noise a few months after I had them. Alta replaced the joints under warranty. Remember a heim joint will make a very small amount of noise.

I have the red ones (V2?) and haven't had any noise at all with them. There is grease (and consequently, dirt) in there, though.

Alta control arms

Mine sound like a hammer hitting the frame when i run over the slightest crack in the road. Anyone ever tried just replacing the heim joint end links that thread into the controol arms?

If you have the older arms the heim joints should be chrome colored. The new heim joints are black, I just checked mine. If they are the old ones call Alta, they should replace them for you N/C. They did for me and others. Also no more squeaks

You don't have to go to Alta to replace the hiems. In fact they should tell you this I feel.
Not saying don't go to them, especially if they don't charge you , but at least check your options. Hiems are all pretty standard. Alta already sold you the most important part, and that's the shims.

Anyone have new information on durability of the current Alta heim joints? I either need to replace the heims or get different control arms as my car sounds like it is falling apart because of the old version control arms. Alta sells a newer version of the heim joint, but I would like to know how long they last. Methinks they should last a LONG time, esp. in SoCal where I am.

My old-style Helix heim-jointed control arms are also pretty super loud these days. When should you bite the bullet and replace the joints?

I had the joints replaced under warranty when the new versions came out. 2 years and lots of track days and they are still fine.

Mine have been perfect since we put them in. When ever my car is up in the air, I grab and twist them, still smooth
