Tell us how you really feel.... Although certainly not for me, some may like the aggressive nature of that hood. It always surprises me when something over the top (and possibly innovative) is automatically labled "Rice". To each their own, I suppose.

First, thank you to okijack.

Second, vdubdoug- I was not asking for opinions, I wanted to share the car and get info on where to find it. You may think that it looks rice, but I think it would provide a great function to get rid of heat under the hood. Also, you cannot really label it rice when it comes from Germany...more touring than rice to me.

Yeah I like the hood alot. But okijack, I could not find the hood on their website. If you have an exact link that might help, it is kind of confusing because the site is in german...I think.

Thanks for the help and the positive comments.

Anything can be labeled "RICE" regardless of where it is made or who sells it. Case in point American Products Company. And that hood belongs on on a Lancer Evolution not a Mini. (to each his own) Fiberglass/carbon fiber hoods are not for street cars as the don't crumple properly in the event of a collision.

yeah for a negative Opinion

I can certainly see the functionality of the hood (suck the air out as fast as it comes in), and it isn't as fugly as some, so why not? If you have the budget and inclination, go for it!

From the top-down picture of the hood it doesn't appear that there are any more openings than on a regular hood. The 2 areas that look like giant vents from the front appear to be solid, shiny black plastic from above.

This pic show how the vents are actually black mesh...not just a plastic piece...if you read the article on ebay it tells how it is open because he was concerned with water getting into the CAI but it is sealed with Alta's box top.

Hey Chris,
Sorry for the delay in responding. I believe the hood is a special order piece. They also have a Euro style front bumper and side skirts. The guy that runs the show over at Schafer Clubsport is Claus Peter-becker. Great guy. He also speaks very good english. His number is (To include access numbers): 01149-6313511322. Schafer Clubsport is the performance wing of Autohaus Schafer. They are a BMW/Mini dealership in Kaiserslautern, Germany. They have two shop cars, both highly modified for the track. One is a 2005, the newest a 2007. Very nice set-ups in both. They race at Nurmbergring (SP?) regularly. Apparently, with much success.

there was a post about this car in the racing section. But for a bigger company, I was surprised to see a bolt in cage in their '07.

I was also sad to see the areo lower and regular grillz on this one......

If you guys want...I can get you the email address of the guy will ship to the States. I was looking to buy the hood about 2 years ago but decided to go with a ViS hood instead. BTW, the hood used to be vented...it wasnt a solid piece.
