UniChip help

I recently bought a used UniChip and had it mapped for my Cooper. However, when I went to install it, my car would not start. I see two issues:

1. The instructions I have say to connect the 24 pin connector. As you can see from my photo, I have an 8 pin connector fitting into a 6 pin connector. Do two pins hang over the side?

2. I have two switches. One has two yellow wires and one has two red wires with yellow stripes. Is this how they two should be wired? What should each switch be set to?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

You should all take comfort in the fact that we have a couple of great vendors serving our community. Randy Webb from Webb Motorsports answered my questions. Randy new that my UniChip was a very old model and explained how to wire it and which switches to flip. Thanks Randy!

I had also attempted to contact Chad at Detroit Tuned to seek his advice since he remapped the unit for me. He was not available when I called and I did not leave a message, but he noticed that I called on his caller ID and phoned me back to see if I needed help.

Both exemplified great customer service, and I appreciate their efforts!

Hi Clayton,

I noticed immediate improvement (especially in the lower ranges). Randy told me that the 6 pin connector is not part of the connection for the car. It is what is used to connect a computer whent they tune the chip. He also told that that UniChip had some wiring issues with older boxes that required two wires to need to be switched. I called UniChip and they switched them for me for a price. With regards to the switches, only the switch with the red wires does anything and the little red light comes on when you have the switch set correctly. Hope this helps. I just mounted the silver box up by the drivers side windshield by putting a little bolt through the plastic stopper to the left of the cowl vent.
