Are those SUVs, who tend to ride on your rear end, able to see your lights when you brake? The ad states appox.35% passage of light.

I think it looks great, but would be worried about the safety factor, especially when my "evil spawn" are riding in the back seat.

His, Chile RED all over / Hers, EB UJ on top

I did the Tail light/Fog Light Mod also and now have Four lights lite on braking. It shows up fine. It seems to be even more pronounced with the tint and when the brakes are applied it goes through the tint just like window tint. With tint if you illuminate light behind the film the light goes through with no problem. Try it and see what I mean. And at night there is no worries at all.

As long as you have the fogs wired up... but they will make a bit of a difference, I can't tell you how many idiots i've seen driving around at night with the tinted covers on the headlights...

well, I should say almost DIDN't see...

Are those the ones that go onto the side of the lens as well? I like that idea more, it seems the film would be less prone to comming off.

The film that wraps the edges in the How-To is the Oracal 8300. It is thinner (only 3mil) which allows it to stretch to wrap corners and transmit more light. A 15"x10yard roll will cost under $30.

I tried to install precut oracal, but found it very difficult to align it to conceal the chrome and look clean. The edges of the film were visible near the edge of the lense making it obvious that it was film on the taillights. It is just easier and cleaner to undo the one nut, pop out the lense, and stretch the film over the curves IMHO.

So buy either film and give it a try! You can always peel it off.

Here is a closeup of the oracal 8300 for you to see the darkness. It has zero effect on light emmission in day or night conditions since it is designed for backlit exterior signage.

6f7,

You must have a ton of that left over from your roll. Care to sell a yard of it and recoup some of your cost? I'd rather spend $10 for enough to do my lights a couple of times than $30 for a whole roll. PM me if interested.

Just ordered, nice that they are pre-cut, save some piece of mind with cutting the laminate while still on the car

If you prefer the color of the Oracal 8300 Transparent Dark Grey, it can be ordered from signstop.net for $22 for 15"x10yards.

It is the same material that is used on these toyota kits.

I have had mine done for a few months now and there is noway it will come off unless I take it off. Water hose, Pressure wash, and car washers will not get this off unless you pull it off by hand. Watch for the How-To with the colored headlight film from Lamin-X coming soon.

IMO the blue car owned by Yfoiler would better with clear rear lights under the blue cover. That would be sweet. It still looks good.

Poke it with a needle and work the air out. Any leftover little bubbles will disappear soon enough. Glad you are happy
