R56 6k miles & purrrfect!!!!

R56, manual, 6+K miles, changed oil and glad to report he runs like a swiss clock. Simply perfect & actually gets better! w/ each passing week.
-Just to let folks know some of us are experiencing smooth sailing w/ the new model.
-My little Cooper S will scoot to 120mph in a blink and feels dead-on stable at 100+mph speeds. Something neither of my 2 R53''s did.
Can't say enough about how good the car is.

Mark, just back from 2k trip to the Dragon. My R-56 ran like a top. It's fast, smooth and got 35.1 combined for the trip including the dragon runs. Just turned 4k total and I really like it!

Glad to hear that you are happy with yours.

Great to hear some R56 owners have been trouble free. I wonder if owners with problems and without problems might post their production week? Might be interesting to see if some weeks are more problematic than others.

Mine is not trouble free.. it seems to be the poster child for a problematic R56. it's back in the shop for it's second clutch/flywheel and possibly a transmission.

Bought mine off the lot in March. Has a 01/07 stamp on the door plate, don't know which week though.

Built in 1/07

Mine is one of the early ones. 1900 miles so far and no complaints or problems. Unfortunately I'm currently 600 miles away from the Mini driving a white Ford Focus. I think of it as a character-building experience...

At under 400 miles, my MINI is at the dealer getting a software download so that the voice recognition system will work. It's a little too early to say, but other than that, it's been great.

Pleasure was mine. It was great putting faces to screen names. Lots of crazy folks, huh! I get to go to Buckhead in June for an audit workshop - Woo Hoo, Pulled Pork!

Is there a way you can tell what week of production your R56 is from the VIN number? I bought mine off the lot last week from Long Beach Mini (they had the exact model I was looking for!). Thanks!

production

Mine is Dec. 06 2nd week production date. It was one of the dealer "launch" cars, SS/B red interior. Actually it is very well finished w -0- visual flaws (noisy moonroof not withstanding.)

Actually, I found the stamp on the inside of my driver's-side door; built 02/07. What production week would this put it around?

Anywhere from week 5 to week 8. You can call MINIusa and find out your production date by giving them your VIN.
