I bought a used UniChip that was originally mapped for an MCS and I had it remapped for my Cooper. Unfortunately, I don't have any instructions on how to install it in my Cooper. Does any have instructions to help me install it?
I haven't dyno'd it yet, but it was the one mod that had the most dramatic improvement so far. The vendors say +8 to +10 on the HP gains and you can really feel it in the lower gears. I went with UniChip because: 1) I found a used one cheap; 2) it is easy to remove when the need arises; and 3) the process for some of the other ECU products was a bit intimidating. I'm very happy with my purchase and very impressed with the job Detroit Tuned did with this Cooper map I had them load (I was lucky to find a vendor that had a map for a Cooper with catback and cai).
Great to be you. I just checked the price of a new one!!!! I understand why there are some out there used for sale. Don't want to be giving that away on a trade in..
It's pretty easy. Just contact Chad Miller [aka "agokart"] of Detroit Tuned, tell him what you have under the hood right now, send it to him, and he will remap it to your car and send it back to you. It doesn't cost much to remap it, and I wanted him to do it because he deals with UniChip.
I had Chad do mine as well, and he is one of the few I have found that have taken the time to map a Cooper. He also had the instructions I needed to install the Unichip in a Cooper which is very different from the MCS install.
