I don't normally do this, posting eBay items, but it's been out there for a few hours already and it's a buy-it-now auction so what the heck........
2003 Hot Wheels Trade Week MINI Cooper for $49.99 plus $5 shipping. If you've got deep pockets this is, from what I've seen, a fantastic price for this item. Last year they were going for upwards of $130.

P.S. White Lighning, Johnny Lightning are currently going for $25 to $35 on eBay right now, the the Trade Week is much more rare then they are, SO who knows. Me, I plan on paying for my great G-son's college with my collection someday
(of course I'm kidding, I'll be burried with them

Tamiya 1/10 scale MINI Cooper
Tamiya offers a 1/10 scale MINI Cooper.

This is not a toy grade car like what you would get at Wally Mart. You know the kind, toy is pre assembled, you install batteries and go then throw it away when it brakes. This is a hobby grade 1/10 scale FWD race car with working 4 wheel independant suspension with coil over shocks on each corner. The car is offered as a kit that you assemble the chassis, install radio electronics, and then paint the body. You even mount the tires on the wheels and can adjust suspension settings like toe in/out, adjust spring rates, changs shock oil weights, and install adjustable front and rear roll bars. When something brakes or you want to make the car faster, replacement and hopup parts are available from local hobby shops. Tamiya offers a regional series for racing them. The Tamiya Championship Series has regional qualifying races around the country and then wraps up at TCS North American finals at the Tamiya head quarters in Southern Califorina. At the North American finals, you can compete for a ticket to represent the USA while you race against others from around at the TCS finals in Japan. Tamiya even has a page that lists performance modifications that you can make to improve the car's performance.

)I am amazed at how much money can be made collecting things, and I guess if I had deep pockets, I'd do the same.

I wish I still had half of the toys I had growing up, oh and that Adirondack Boat my grandfather gave away back in 72 would be nice to have also.
My parents picked up three Johnny Lightening MINI's last night at Kaybee toys...3 for 5 buck (they had to get two of the same cause there wasn't much selection left)! They aren't the street freaks one's, they are something heat. I will have to post pics when I get home.
Only one toy so far....
I picked up this VR/W MC wind up at a street market in Shanghai. I need to keep my eyes peeled on the next trip for more.
It's fun doing rear-wheel drive burnouts in the dust on my desk

Man I wish I had some of my old toys from when I was a kid! I could afford that new water-to-air intercooler

Very nice find maganoo

I guess that's why they're so rare. Folks have fond memories of these things but never had the foresight to save them.
That's the problem with the JLs. They're actually made for the collector, and one would assume that a good majority of them will still be around for many years, keeping their value relatively low.
Ok, so we here in the SE got hit with a snow and ice storm
I'm working nights and can't make it back home, cause I'm snowed in at work
. The temp starts to creep up to close to freezing, so what do I decide to do??
Go MINI hunting
The local "marts" were empty, so hunting was enjoyable and profitable too.
Found the HW 1:18 scale MINI Cooper Cabrio! They only had one or I would have gotten more for you guys, matter of fact it was so new that when they rang it up, the UPC came back "Unknown Item" After a few minutes we came to an agreement on what a fair price was
Nice item and I'll be looking for the other 2 (CR and PS)
Found a few of these low end diecast, no maker info on them, but I believe them to be Motor Max. They were 2 for a dollar, at the Dollar General, if you have one of those stores around you. Worth a trip to check those type stores out, I've found some rare items in there for next to nothing.

Hope everyone else has a good weekend! Oh, BTW the snow melted enough so that I could get home tonight without much problem!

I've seen them show up on ebay recently - don't know if it's the same manufacturer or not. I have my eye peeled out here, no luck yet.And SO glad you made it home safe and sound. Sorry you couldn't get home because of the weather....

Hey Donna,
Those on eBay are the same ones, and are going for 17.99 to 19.99. Which is the price that the 1:18th scale HW's normally go for. But it's the shipping that kept me from going that route. Some of the HW "Whips" brand are upwards of $24 in the stores here.
The weather is still to bad to fly, even with the goggles so we put the helicopter "down" for the night and everyone went home, but we'll be back up in the morning.
Say hi to Mike for me!

Smokey - I hear ya on the shipping costs via ebay. That's why I haven't bought one yet. I figure they will start showing up at Toys R Us pretty soon. The "Marts" around here don't have jack....very disappointing...
So we'll have to start checking out other places....
Hugs to Barbara for us.... Be safe!!!
