Pictures

Over labor day weekend I logged 1700 miles in about 4.5 days. I do not have a good camara, so it was left at home, however my girl friend brought hers. Towards the end of the trip, I thought I would look for a place to take pictures if time allowed. What do you think? How bad are they and where can I improve...Other than just a new camara(that one is now broken)

That's an interesting location with the murals. I think the biggest improvement you could make would be to avoid having so much empty space at the bottom. Crop out the bottoms a bit and you'll see what I mean. Does your GF's camera have a zoom lens? If so, try getting back farther and shooting with a longer focal length. The perspective will be more pleasing and it would emphasize the murals more with less surrounding stuff. It looks like you got low, which is good. It would be fun to try some detail shots with the murals in the background, too. E.g., get low and shoot up with a longish focal length so you have a headlight with the cows in the bacground. Don't be afraid to move the car around, too, rather than leaving the car in one spot and walking around it.

I like it! Well-seen and the car looks good, too!

And if the camera has manual capabilities, underexpose it just a tad more as test shots. That might help a bit with color. (But that's always a matter of debate and preferences.)

I'm a sucker for murals. ou should check out some of them out here in East L.A., California's Central Valley, or even Chicago's south side.

I will give that a shot. I need to find a simple photo editor for my Mac. I know they are out there, I just have not looked.

It did have zoom. We went to a wedding last weekend and thoguht it would be fun to get some pictures. Unfortunatly when my dad handed me back the camara, the hand loop caught on his rist, so when he pulled his hand away the camara went with him...then fell on the floor. The lens no longer retracts. Anyone know of an inexpensive camara that uses the Sony memory card? My gf doesnt care, she is just wanting an inexpensive camara until I get an SLR.

Thanks, I was worried about the back drop. I tired to stay close to the car because behind the mural is a milk factory. I was also worried about things in the back round being a distraction. I may have to go back some day when they are closed and move the car around a bit more. To bad its 400 miles away. I should be back soon.

I grew up in Sacramento, there are many there too. I was worried, as I said, about using them as a back drop, but I was please with the results.

Now off to crop the photos, I will repost them later.

Thanks guys, maybe I am not as much of a lost cause as I thought.

Nice pictures Sean. You need to screw a Hyper Blue / White filter on there. You seem to have used a BRG/W one by mistake.

Yep, I like them better with less foreground.
