Did I Ruin My Compact Flash Card? Help!
First time I used my new camera and after taking a few photos I put the card in the reader and looked at a few photos. I renamed the file before transferring to my computer and got an error message. After that, the computer would not recognize the card at all. When I tried to read it, it gave me a message to insert the card in drive F. So I put the card back into the camera and the same thing happened. I tried to reformat the card but I get an error message. The camera works fine with other cards. Any ideas?
Don't know what kind of camera you have. But I had a similar problem with my new Canon Rebel XT. I had to get out the manuel and reformat the CF card and it work again. Hope that helps

Rick, like Barry said reformat the card in the camera, not the puter. You will lose what's on the card, but the card should be OK. Never delete from the card, just reformat for your deletes. As you know don't change files on the card. Only in the puter.

You didn't do anything wrong there, renaming things should have no effect (at the worst, the camera won't see the file to display on its own screen). And under any circumstance you should be able to format it, so it sounds like your card died. Keep it out of the microwave.
