Flash Photography :: Behind the scenes
That dog shot is hilarious! Hahaha!
It's a bit surprising but most animals seem to not be bothered at all by camera flashes. I've heard that even wild animals like bears and such aren't particularly annoyed by them. But please don't take my word for it and try it... .

MarkS My experience with bears and flashes for sure wasnt good.
While camping in New Mexico as a wee lad. We had a black bear wonder in to camp looking for an afternoon snack. Several fellow campers started taking pictures and my brother happened to be the first to snap off a flash. Bear turned and headed straight for him.
Luckily my brother is pretty fleet of foot and managed to avoid the bear.
I would say an ounce of caution should be used when dealing with large animals and at very least you should be the one to flash first....

Reminds me of anytime I visit a national park and there is a crowd of people photographing the wildlife. One time in particular someone decided it would be a good idea to walk 80 yards or so out into a field to photograph an elk with a full rack of antlers a little closer. Mind you at this point he was only about 30-40 yards from the elk. Let's see, 30-40 yards from a bull elk with twice that distance to cover through a field to the relative safety of a car.
Remind me to get my flash out next time I spot someone like that.

Dang... this almost qualifies for the "sunset" thread.
Whenever I get serious, I could use this technique.
Been happening here too. A $40,000 spool was lifted from a well driller.
