Impromptu Run: Beating Boredom

Seeing as how I'm off work for a while, I can only take so much daytime television. So, today I took off up north a bit, towards Mt. Pinos and beyond.

I took along my trusty Lomo LC-A and snapped a few. Here a few snapshots from the day.
Film processing is courtesy of local Sav-On drugstore. Minor retouching, mostly cloning out scratches from bad film scanning. The prints actually look more colorful in person. The vignetting is a quirk of the LC-A.

Great pix Juan. The saturation is unbelievable!

Would you mind giving some info about the Lomo to us newbies and sharing your expertise? I only know the Lomo is a Russian made knock off and that it's fun to take pictures of because of its ability to deeply saturate photos. I've seen some great stuff from you with this camera, so I was just curious if you could share your experiences or any more info on why its a fun camera, besides just the fantastic end product?

I noticed you refer to your lomo as "trusty", but from what I've read, it's anything but realiable.

This is what I could find if anyone's interested in this camera

The Lomo LC-A is a sturdy little no-frills workhorse. It has only four distance settings: (in metric units) 0.8, 1.5, 3, and infinity. It's aperture range goes from f16 down to f2.8 with an auto setting thrown in. The ASA (yes, ASA) options are: 25, 50, 100, 200, and 400.
Despite its lack of technology, it is capable of producing some fantastic photography.

Trusty in many ways.
  • I have it around me a majority of the time.
  • It's an ugly-looking little beast, so nobody'd want to steal it.
  • It's predictably unpredictable.
  • Going on photowalks with it is fun.

I definitely enjoy seeing your technique at work (Lomo, D70, cardboard disposable, doesn't matter). Nicely done.
