The October Photo Contest Topic was twilight. Your photo didn't appear to be shot with the topic in mind. Maybe I'm missing something but I usually feel that I take a pretty broad view of what the topic could include.

For the record, there were several other shots not included in this months poll, including one photo of someone's exhaust tips in broad daylight, a mini at the beach in broad daylight, a photo of a clubman t-shirt, and the back of a clubman with the doors hanging open (again in broad daylight). None of those photos were included either.

Those are all great photos. It would be nice to know if the winner was taken in the morning or evening also.

I can understand pics taken in broad daylight but my picture met all the requirements and was taken at night under stars and a street light (as stated in my PM to you earlier). I feel the you did " miss something" and possibly in the future a simple PM to me asking what my interpretation on the subject would be better than not posting my photo and not letting me know. My wife and I spent a very long time outside at 2 am working with manual camera settings to achieve the look without using photoshop. I am acctually very dissapointed that you took it upon yourself to disqualify a picture based on your interpretation on a topic that was created to allow artistic vision. I do not think removing my picture from the contest without letting me know anything untill I discovered it myself in the polls was in the spirit of this NAM forum.

Night is not twilight. Looking at the samplings I was surprised entry #3 wasn't eliminated as well.

The announcement thread even went so far as to explain what twilight was
"The diffused light from the sky during the early evening or early morning when the sun is below the horizon and its light is refracted by the earth's atmosphere
Even on a loose definition streetlight is not twilight. So if Dave Missed it I guess I missed it too, even after your explanation. Dead of night, and daylight are totally different than twilight. I'm member to a few photos only boards, and their criteria on staying with the topic are much more strict and IMO end up with more creative entries, because photographers have to put more thought into the composition meeting the topic as well as flawless technical execution. Interpretation is different than totally changing the topic.

Hey cool, I posted that definition!

I have to agree with MotorOn. #3 is not falling into the discription of Twilight at all. Street Light or Alien Light Beam maybe, but there is no sign of the topic in the image.

I hate I didn't get in on this months contest due to a never ending bathroom renovation, what fun~

I'm not sure if it's the case this time, but in the past that's happened when people submit images larger than the allotted file size (800x600)

The caption for #5 is "Please, no tickets for this ride!"

I wish I had the flash skills that ScottLes used. I really like the balanced lighting in his photo.

H.AW.G.'s is excellent photo too!
I'm still trying to figure out which photo is Drew's?

I had no idea that twilight was so hard to capture. It took me three nights in a row until I got to the location early enough for the 5-10 minutes of twilight. Post twilight photos at the same location can be found on my Flickr page.

That was exactly what happened in this case.

My clone skill is lacking or I'd be putting rig plans (research plus halfthe equipment needed to build one on hand already) into use by now
But I did manage to make that 3ft CB antenna disappear off the roof

Drew, send me an email if you want any help, I'd be happy to give you assistance.

My goal is to get cracking on the rigging this winter. It would be nice to see you doing the same.

It was a tough choice between 4 thru 7. Is #6 a stobist enthusiast?

Dave I may take you up on that, I need to learn A nondestructive editing (more change my bad habits) then B good cloning technique,my issues seem based around getitng to the edges, like the sky to the car or like if I removed the poles, getting a giant haze. I use the heal tool most of the time, and I'm sure there is a better way out there.

It's ScottLes's photo, if you scroll down he's got a thread or few of his photos and some good explanations of what he carries.
