Seems there has been alot of interest in a caravan from our nations heartland to the dragon on Thurday, April 29th. if you are interested, keep an eye on this. From what I've heard, there may be several of us from Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana meeting up along the way. My wife and I had a vacation planned for that week so we may be leaving earlier, but if there is enough interest I'm gonna convince the wife that we should wait til Thursday. So all you midwesterners give me the ammo I need to talk her into it.

agokart indicated that there will be several MINIs leaving the Detriot area Thursday morning heading south on 75. I had planned on meeting up with them in Ohio. Would love company from anyone who wants to venture out that early on Thursday to catch them!

 

Yes Ryephile and I, along with three other mini’s I believe (5 total), will be heading south on I-75 Thursday morning from the Detroit area. I think around 6 am is the start time they left last year, but a time and location to meet has not been set yet. Once we know a bit more (some time this month) we will let you know some times we should be passing large cities along the way for anyone that wants to join up with us. And we’ll PM cell phone numbers to help track us down a bit better that day I’m sure. It will be great to join up with a bunch of minis along the way. Safety in numbers I always say, and it looks cool to have a bunch of one cool car all in a line. If you saw 10 minis in a pack or 10 "mini vans" in a pack, which one would make you look at each one and talk about it? Enough said. One of us will update here as soon as wee have some plans set. This is the Year for road trips!

The Detroit clan will meet at Meijer on 8 mile and Haggerty (in Northville, off of I-275) at 6:00am sharp Thursday, April 29th. We will leave by 6:30am. So far we will be meeting another MINI at the I-275 and I-75 junction. At a near-speed limit pace, and occasional stops for car and human fuel, we should arrive in Fontana Village, NC about 4pm. We will be taking I-75 from Michigan to Knoxville, TN. After a quick jog on I-275 and I-40, Hwy-129 from Knoxville to Deals Gap. From Deals Gap, Fontana Village is down Hwy-28 a few miles.

Anyone who wants to leave later - I'll be disembarking at about 11 pm on thursday night so I can make it to the Mini parade on friday morning, I'll be leaving from the Akron Ohio area.

 

Ryephile is the "I-275 and I-75 junction" Cincinnati? What time on the 29th do you expect ot arrive at this point?

 

--->SumWon: Yes, there is an I-275 in Cinci, however there are also I-275's in Detroit and Knoxville! We expect to be passing through Covington, KY (the south side of the Cinci I-275 loop) about 10:30am on Thursday, April 29th. We will most likely need to refuel somewhere in Cinci, so it would make for an easy meeting place.

For those that are meeting up with us in Lexingon, KY, we'll be strolling through about 11:50am.

I'm actually gonna be leaving at either 3:00 or 4:30 pm from Kent, Ohio if there are any stragglers.

*First stop - I-75 Exit 18 in Michigan, just south of the I-75 and I-275 interchange. Be there at 7:00AM
*Second stop (outside Michigan) I-75 Exit 135 in Ohio, US-30. We'll be there about 8:40AM picking up Minzila
*Third stop - I-75 Exit 3 Hoppte St. in Cincinnati. Arrival time is about 10:45am picking up Teampajn and SumWon
*Fourth stop - I-75 Exit 108 "Man O War drive" in Lexington, KY. We'll be having lunch here at the Chik-Fil-A, arriving around Noon, picking up MOTOR'N
