We don't do spelling or grandma's at AMVIV, so don't fret.

Well that would be great if i was talking about her, thats her MO asking her to stop doing that would be like asking it to stop rainning, BUT i was talking about you.

Go stag, and if you ask nice, Scooby might stick you in his boot with all the parts so you can save on gas money.

See if you can share a room with another couple - that would knock over $200 off right there. And if you want some action, you can do it in the car, and maybe get donations for the entertaiment from other AMVIVers.

Well, those are the only "assets" I have that are prone to spilling out.

Why? No more sense than starting a 'Beer' thread and see if anyone is interested in that. Foregone conclusion. Unless you're taking preorders, or asking for registration.

p.s. it's voyeur

Well, you don't have to attend the dinner if you don't want to. No-one is forcing you to buy a shirt, hat or grille badge. Things would be a lot easier on people here in Vegas if all we did was organize a group rate at a hotel and leave everyone to their own devices. Banquet? There's the buffet line. Red Rock? That way. Valley of Fire? That way. Shirts? The gift shop has them. We have people who attend who don't register or pay a cent to support the event. We don't stop them from doing runs or talking to MINIacs or vendors. Last year, we didn't even stop them from attending the dinner (which on the 350 attendees I'm estimating on current numbers will probably cost the event about $200). I'm not going to hold you down and extract $25 from you if you don't think you're getting your money's worth. But. Compare what MME or MMW charge. Compare MITM registration. Then come up to me at AMVIV and complain about the cost. We'll chat.

I'm guessing ChrisW knows all this, he's really just upset because he knows it's all the little stuff (like beer) that add up and make what looks like a cheap vacation on paper actually cost quite a bit. Am I right? There's no way anyone could in good conscience complain about the $25 registration for AMVIV. I have yet to even go on a run, other than the Strip Cruise (which I found out the hard way doesn't actually involve stripping ), and I don't mind paying.

Sorry. It's been a rough week.
"Does the $25 include the dinner?"
"Does the $35 dinner include alcohol?"
"I want 10 banquet tickets and don't want to pay $25 for the registration, how do I do that?"
"Can you book a hotel room for me? I promise I'll pay you for it!"
"I know you're 180% of the hotel contract and they closed the group rate 2 weeks ago, do you think I can still get in on that rate?"

Are you sure? I swear last year a saw some guy under a pig pile (rugby scrum?) gasping out "Ok! Ok!, I'll pay!" Then again, that could have been someone who tried to skip out after a pulley install....

edit: I'd offer Agro a hug, but in that other thread he said something about 'giving a pop in the back', so I'm a bit nervous.

Well i've never looked into any of the other Big events so i wouldn't know what they run. And its not that i mind paying, Its just that everyone talks about how great it is and i'm sure its great. No one ever told me there was a fee i guess i should have put two and two together to make 4 not 3 but anyway thats what i did. So i was just a little of guard when i went to sign up and next thing i know i own money. Sorry to be a pain in the *** or *****. I don't mean to come down on everys good time. it was just something i wasn't ready for.

We don't need a pile of people to extract payment if it comes to that. Las Vegas residents are practiced in extracting money from visitors. You may have noticed the significant individual volumes of many of the SCMC members. Todd or I by ourselves can form a pile.

Not a pop IN the back, a pop OF the back. The chiropractor is in.

I will be sure to point Chris out to you on Thursday when we get there.
This way, you can pop him, or smack him, or whatever makes you feel good.

Apparently you're a engineer, and not a PM or finance guy. The engineers always underestimate the cost.

You can do it for $25, everything else is just gravy. Don't fret it either way.
Thought of another way, therapists are $100/hr. AMVIV is good therapy.

If it makes you feel any better, a friend of mine is doing his 40th the weekend before in Vegas, and the hotel they're at (nothing special) is $300/night. Now THAT hurts.

Well I do PM stuff sometimes like right now (reason i'm in hawaii for a month) but yes most of the time i'm just a project engineer so i only care about can we build it or not. Could careless as long as i stay builable how much its going to run someone else to build the darn thing.
