New to Memphis - Mechanic recommendations?
Hello all,
I've just moved to Memphis and the baby is oozing something from under the engine (passenger side, front). Can anyone recommend a pediatrician (aka a mechanic)? I live on Mud Island, work in Germantown.
Thanks,
Sharon

You've got the dealership, Roadshow BMW/MINI on Germantown Parkway, just north of Walnut Grove Road... and you've got Alpine Auto Works in the Wolfchase area, just north of I-40 at the Whitten Road exit...
Both of these are on the east side of town, not close to home, but not too far from Germantown.
The dealer is the dealer... if you go there, call Todd Fulford first, one of the service dept. advisors and tell him I sent you (Mark Loft)... 901-365-1900 ext. 6892, closed Sundays and Mondays (but open on Saturdays!)
If you go to Alpine, make an appointment with whoever answers, but talk with John Scheidhauer while you're there... he's the owner and a great mechanic. Alpine is an independent shop that's been around probably 20 years, working only on BMWs, and recently started on MINIs when they came to the U.S., they're every bit as competent as the dealer.
Todd Fulford at Roadshow MINI: 901-365-1900 x 6892
Alpine Autoworks: 901-377-1007 1986 Fletcher Creek Drive
Hope this helps. I don't know of any other shops I would trust with my MINIs.

P.S. The dealership has a pretty convenient shuttle that will take you to work if you drop your car off in the morning... usually leaves the dealership around 8:15 am. No loaners for MINI owners and you have to find your own way back to pick up your car... but it's better than nothing.
Not sure if Alpine has a dedicated shuttle service, but someone there could probably run you back to Germantown if you drop off there.
