Mark your calandars! April 22 - Cincinnatti Bridge Event!

What: The Roebling suspension bridge in Cincinnatti is currently closed for renovation. It will re-open on Sunday April 22nd. About 30 cars from our sister clubs in Indianapoplis and Louisville are slated to be in the opening event, and they've invited us to join them!
In addition to the event, we will do lunch afterwards in downtown Cinci (still hammering out the details there) and then afterwards we will drive up to Wright Patterson AFB for a photo opportunity - they have an "Auxillery Parking Lot" that's filled with planes, including a B-52 bomber! The base has agreed to let us park in front of the planes to take photos - neat!
Date: Sunday, April 22nd @10:00 AM (bridge ceremony starts at 11:00) w/ lunch afterwards, then a drive up to Wright-Patt for photos if desired.
Meeting place: TBD - we will assemble on the KY side of the river in a location soon to be announced and drive from there to the Roebling bridge. If anyone's interested in forming an early-morning caravan from Columbus to Cinci on Sunday morning, please let me know - I figure if we leave by 7:00 or so that we should have plenty of time to locate the assembly point (I have a GPS) and get there in time to comfortably hang out.

Overnight stay?: Yes, if desired. The Indy group will be staying the night in Madison the night before here:

If you're travlling a great distance, or are just looking for a little weekend get-away, call the hotel for a room reservation.
The Indy/Louisville folks are expecting 30 or so cars to attend, so it should be a really fun pre-Dragon event filled with new MINI "peeps to meets".
Questions? Comments? Please PM me or post here!
BAD NEWS GUYS!
I just heard from our sister club, and the bridge event is CANCELLED. Apparantly the KY DOT fell behind on bridge repairs in January due to the bad weather and are splitting up the repair into 2008. The bridge is, I gather, already re-opened and the parade is cancelled.
But, we can still get together for pictures at Wright Patt that weekend - we still have the opportunity to park near the B-52 and shoot photos.
So, I'll open it up to you guys... The Indy group will be in nothern KY on Sunday the 22nd and wants us to meet them for a drive through Southern Ohio, ending up at Wright Patt in the early afternoon for the scheduled ph oto opp. Anyone have any specific requests or ideas?

Hi gang,
The Wright-Patternson Air Force Museum is now the National Museum of the United States Air Force (to look & sound like the National Museum of the United States Navy, etc.).
Over the years, most of their aircraft have been moved indoors into the new hangers, and there are only about a dozen aircraft still outside in the Air Park. The B-52 is in the middle hanger (Modern Flight Gallery). A couple aircraft outside that might make an interesting backdrop are the C-119 Flying Boxcar or the EC-135E ARIA (a.k.a Snoopy).
The museum is still a fascinating place to visit, or "a museum with WOW!", as one of my British friends expounded. It's difficult to walk-thru the whole thing in a day, and would probably take 3 or 4 days to see everything.
I would also be interested in taking some "many MINI" photos as well.
John

OK, so a few people have gotten back to me and it looks like the COlumbus group will hook up with a few members of the Dayton group at Wright-Patt for the photo opp. We will be skipping the breakfast/lunch and thedrive rom Cinci to Wright-Patt, I'm afraid. Sorry that this fell through, but hey, it's Ohio and Ohio weather - of COURSE it can't be predicted.
I'll try to get a more concrete time from the Indy group - assuming that they still plan to be in Cinci on Saturday night, of course. Check this space for details.
