I'm confused.. why does everyone look so down upon Hyundais/Kias as inferior/cruddy vehicles? Am i missing something here?
(i've never driven or sat in one so i'm curious to know..)

This is very true...and so much so that Hyundai is really giving other foreign car makers....namely Toyota and Nissan a real run for their money. In fact, Hyundai's Azera has even dared to take on mighty BMW.

Hyundai may have at one time been a cheap car, but that's all past now. In fact, they bought out Kia and now Kia serves as a subsidiary...kind of like Dodge to Chrysler.

What lured me to the Sonata was that great warranty, though, and the fact that my car came with Michelins [although I could have had Hankooks, too].
With its nice ride, good power, great economy, and fantastic warranty, I think it was a good purchase.

What Crashton said is basically why people still are skeptical. But, how many dealers offer that warranty? And, how many fully outfitted, full-sized cars out there come off the lot at around $25,000? The only things mine doesn't have are a sunroof [but then, I have them in my MINIs] and heated seats [again, these are in my MINIs]. On the otherhand, the Sonata seats are microfiber cloth, so they are still warm enough.

I agree I bought my Accent because it was cheeeeeep but after driving it I really liked that everything was very simply engineered and built to last. I broke the driver window and it took all of 10 minutes to take the door apart and fix it then put it back together. My mom bought hers because it was $1,200 cheeper than a civic, then when it wore out she went right back to the Hyundai dealer because they treated her so nice.

The Korean auto manufactures are where the Japanese were 5 or 10 years ago. They are catching up very fast too.

Next wave of carp cars will be here soon. They are coming from China. It will take time, but they will become good cars too. I wonder if they'll sell & service them at Wallyworld?

Heck you guys agreeing!!!! Yep when pigs fly.
