I tested out my new snow tires and found out that my rim doesn't like curbs. I did get a replacement and am back on the road. I'm thinking about turning the scarred rim into a trophy and we can all pass it around to the next person who gets damage on their car. It could be like the Stanley Cup of the MINI world
Hey Chuck, I tried out my skid plate yesterday...only it was carbon fiber, mounted under the front bumper...and it didn't survive I'm staying with the All Weathers and driving the old Volvo if it gets real bad
How about me giving you the trophy first! You can pick it up at the next LAME breakfast on 12/15.
Thanks, but NO THANKS! I DID pick up some white holeys [the ones the tires I gave you came from], and they are covered on the insides with some sort of differential grease about a quarter of an inch thick---THOSE are my trophy! First I'll need a SPATULA to scrape off that stuff, and then I'll probably use Gunk to dissolve the remaining grease. If they wheels clean up OK, I may leave them alone, but if they have become yellowed or are scuffed up, I plan to either have them powdercoated or painted in bright, neon, or burnt orange.

I'd really like to see another color on them. I've been thinking about red or black for my new purchase.
They are on, I am not sure how others are going to like them, I think they look great, but I am a bit partial and getting my hollies painted to match would make it look incredible, again in my opinion.
Most likely grease from broken CV boots. Gunk would work well. I'd try the quarter car wash first to blast the heavy stuff off.
No, actually, the wheels came from a seller whose son had them mounted in an old Honda with differential problems. The son went back to 14" wheels and so, had no more use for these.
I'm pretty sure, too, they will clean up ok with some Gunk and a car wash power spray unless the edges have curb rash. In that case, I'll probably have them sandblasted and repainted or powdercoated.
