MINIs at the Pungo VA Strawberry Festival 2006

Just a FYI notice to the Mid Atlantic region MINI Owners. Hampton Roads Club MINI is participating in the Pungo Strawberry Festival Parade in Pungo, VA on May 27th, 2006.

Some of you may be asking, "Where is Hampton Roads and Where is Pungo?" Well, Hampton Roads is the all inclusive name for the greater Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton, Newport News areas of Virginia. Pungo is a small rural area in Virginia Beach, VA that has a Strawberry Festival every year. Quite popular locally and usually draws close to 200,000 people (or their website claims) over the 2 days of the event. You can visit the Pungo Strawberry Festival website at www.pungostrawberryfestival.com.

Nevertheless, on Saturday May 27th at 11:00am Hampton Roads Club MINI (www.hrmini.com) will be representing the MINI and the MINI lifestyle in the Pungo Strawberry Parade. We will have 15 MINIs from the club participating.

I would like offer an open invitation to any and all in the Mid-Atlantic area to come down and visit Virginia Beach and Pungo to show support for the Hampton Roads Club MINI in the parade. There is a lot of things to do in our area so don't just come for the parade - make it a Memorial Day weekend event with a dash of MINIs and Strawberries on Saturday. We have the Virginia Beach ocean front, Historic Williamsburg is close by as well as Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Yorktown National Battlefield, the Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk, and much more.

Hope to see you there. - glassdarkly

Well, folks, Hampton Roads Club MINIs' participation in the 23rd annual parade went off spectacularly, largely due to Larry's (glassdarkly) coordination efforts. We had sixteen MINIs of all colors bookmarked by two classic Minis, many replete with custom magnetic graphics:

We stretched nearly a quarter mile over the parade route, were the largest group in the parade, and were one of the most popular, leaving a cloud of Mardi Gras beads and candy for the kiddies in our wake. For pics and a narrative, go to PICS FROM THE PUNGO STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL PARADE .
