Hatchback Glass

On a trip home in July I had the windows down and somehow my hatchback glass blew out. I don't know if a rock hit it or if it was one of those pressure things like the sunroof, but anyway...

I was going home on leave therefore couldn't work out getting a loaner from the dealer or anything. So we had to have glass, and fast. Took the car to a local glass shop who found a backglass to have installyed in a couple days. So we got it installed but it turns out it was for a pre May '05 build. So I just had the correct glass installed at the dealer last weekend.

Any ideas what to do with the old backglass? It cost $400 to have installed. I'd like to get some kind of money back.

Yeah... I found that out when I had the newer one installed.

Is there anyplace that recycles glass and will give me $15, or anything? I just don't want to dump $150 worth of glass into the trash

What change did they make in the glass in May '05?

The change was sometime within the '05MY, but before May. My best guess is that it has something to do with the rear defroster, becuase they could not hook it up to the (1st) replacement glass.

I guess I will hold on to it untill someone has some problems then. I just wish that all the MINI owners knew about this so they could get some very inexpensive pretty much new glass. I'd be happy to sell it for ~$100.

I'd make a regular "For Sale" post on here so more people would notice it. You could probably get the $100 easily enough.

BTW....we're you on the Blvd. around Mcdonalds a couple days ago in the afternoon? If so, I saw you cruising.
