Hey everyone,

With how many people have coilovers here, there's bound to be someone with these old shocks lying around. I'm not sure what the build month was where they changed to the newer, softer shocks, but I'm interested in getting a couple of sets of the old-style shocks. In good condition, with relatively low mileage, preferably. What's the lifespan on a set of Cooper S shocks, anyhow?

i think it was pre-may '03 mcs's that had the "too firm" suspension.

total bogus, as my car was built right when they implemented the change. argh.

I drove one with the old shocks before I got my MINI, and I have to admit, it did get a little bit scary on some seriously messed up pavement. It magnified that go-kart feel, though!

 

Ivan, I think it was pre-January '03 builds that still had the original stiffer suspension. Wanda is a March '03 build and has the softer ride. Hope that helps! :smile:
