Purchase Prices of Used Mini's
Purchase Prices of Used Mini's
Say I was wondering, we see a lot of Mini's for sale in this section (Marketplace) but never know what they sold for or even if they ever did sell. Is there anyway we can keep a list of "Asking Price" and "Actual Selling Price"?
It seems to me that most of the sale prices we see are a bit on the 'high side' to put it politely and I am curious to find out what reality is? Does anyone have an idea on how to do this? This would give all of us a realistic idea of what our cars are worth instead of what we think they are worth.

look your value up at Edmunds.com....
generally, MINI resales are high with solid wholesale values propping them up. I've used the minimal depreciation to move from 02 MC to 03 MC to 04 MCS without losing significant $!

Prices for used MINIs vary with options and for where you live.
I have seen a 2003 MC selling for about $18,500 with sport package (8,000 miles) and all the way up to $24,000 for a 2003 velvet red MC/CVT with aero side skirts/painted wheel arches and valences, cordoba leather seats, sunroof, and 17" S-lyte wheels (9,000 miles).
Most MCS sell for about $21-22K for 2003 in my area, closer to $20,000 for 2002.

MGear:
Are you buying or selling?
If you're selling and are not pressed for time, just buy an ad in one of the online sites (like cars.com). Some of them offer a "run-til-it-sells" package for a reasonable fee so you can start with a high price and gradually work your way done until you find a buyer.
btw, Yahoo doesn't offer an unlimited package but they have an interesting feature which lets you monitor the number of times your ad is requested for viewing by someone surfing their site. That can be interesting feedback if you lower the price and suddenly get a lot more hits.
