Description:

Selling my well-loved R53.  It is properly sorted, exceedingly well-maintained, and family-owned since new.  A fantastic sleeper but with three kids heading toward college age, it’s time for me to downsize the fleet.

What it is: 
2006 R53 Cooper S slicktop. Space Blue Metallic over black leatherette. 6-speed manual.  136k miles.

My father purchased it new from the dealer; I’ve owned it since 2017.  Recently sorted and it has never run better.  Engine pulls clean and strong with quick throttle response and feels significantly more powerful than stock.  Steering, suspension, clutch, transmission all feel solid  Nice subtle burble from the Milltek catback, zero drone.  Maintenance fully documented since day one.

Clean Maryland title, accident-free, Carfax available.  No CELs.

• Apr 2026 — 380cc injectors installed, remote tune
• Nov 2025 — A/C compressor replaced, system recharged
• Jun 2025 — Purge valve
• May 2024 — Harmonic balancer, drive belt, fuel filter
• Dec 2023 — Coolant expansion tank
• May 2023 — Spark plugs, ignition wires, SC belt, tensioner, idler, pulley
• Earlier: clutch, supercharger service, rotors, pads, wheel bearings, etc.

The injectors and tune were performed in the last month.  The engine is in top-notch running condition.  AdrianCL tune was pulled against live data — short fuel trims, MAP readings, and knock sensor voltage all came back robust.  Adrian’s words: “A healthy engine, very good engine.”  

Based on the mods and the engine health I estimate 190-210 bhp and tq. 

Understand that:
Cosmetically it’s an honest daily — overall paint is good with some small chips, scratches, fading on the rear spoiler.  There is some curb rash on the S-Lite wheels, wear on the driver’s seat and shift ****, and the headliner needs replacement. There are small rust spots on the rear hatch and below the passenger taillight, both known R53 weak points.

Nota bene:
I listed the car on Cars & Bids a few weeks ago.  The car sold but the sale fell through due to international buyer unable to complete the transaction.  Since the auction, I installed the injectors and had the custom tune performed.
