Description:

Now that I finally bought something online having a suitable size shipping box, I'm listing the subject strut tower brace. This item was installed as part of my car's performance mods by the original owner in early 2006, which I removed last year when I replaced the aftermarket cold air intake with an OEM JCW box.

Style is like the linked Racing Dynamics, however actual brand is unknown (not Chinese). I'm listing this as compatible with non-S R50/R52, since the S-spec ECU cover requires modification for adequate clearance. If in doubt whether it'll properly fit on your vehicle without modification, as the pics show there is .843 from flat surface to underside of the carbon fiber crossbar which you could replicate with a straightedge across your strut towers. The leading pics show it installed before removal.

The brace is boxed with both threaded ends removed for shipping and packed for protection, Box size: 5"x5"x48" Weight: 2 lbs 13 oz for DIY shipping estimate (or PM for a price quote to your zip via UPS Ground).

Just a quick note. Braces that barely clear that DME lid won’t clear the R50 battery box lid. The R50 is terrible for strut tower brace fitment because of the battery location and the fact that the hood is lower than the R53.

Hmmm...

You "made me look" at a some R50 engine bay pics from completed BaT listings. I agree, probable interference at the high battery box lid.

Rather than selling this to someone only for them to discover it won"t fit, I'm withdrawing this listing.
This was a nicely fabricated brace but no clue why it was designed that way.

Oh, it’s not probable, it’s definite interference. There are pics floating around of R50s with strut braces and hacked up battery box lids (which is also the cover for the DME in the R50).

I don’t see any issue with selling it though since you’ve noted that modification is necessary. I bet there’s someone out there who would happily bolt it onto their track toy.
