There are a few manufacturers of turbo blankets for the R56. Mines a Forge.
You might not be interested in it but here’s a link… Good luck in your pursuit…

Thanks. I’m aware of all the others. I’ve never liked how any of them look. The WMW fits under the stock heat shield. It’s probably a long shot to find one but you never know.

this one is really good , and once you remove your factory downpipe , heat is no longer a problem on the R56 , the problem in the stock downpipe , Ive cut open over 100 of them for recycling , they are all melted or clogged inside

So what you’re saying is I should replace my OEM downpipe just to solve a minor heat problem? On top of that, that turbo blanket doesn’t wrap all the way around the turbo, it just covers the top. It also covers one of the turbo oil lines which is known to fail. So essentially it just traps heat around the turbo, not in it, and will cause the known oil line to fail quicker….

The flap next to the turbo oil line... I think everyone has been installing it wrong, and fails to tuck that flap down. At least, that's my opinion.

I think if you're going to do it right, you should disassemble everything and have the manifold, turbine housing, and downpipe coated with Swaintech White Lightning.

You are probably right about the flap. Either way…not that great of a design which actually copies other crappy designed products.

I’ve been tempted to pull everything apart and send it to Jet Hot to have everything coated.

Jet Hot is not that great. This is what you want:

like in any other forum , you do you , do what you think its best for your vehicle , i'm telling you what ive found , i have 2 warehouses full of minis and parts , i also do recycling , and have built many performance cars ,
the 07 to 10 cars have a very restrictive donwpipe and every single one ive cut open its clogged or melted inside and that causes extreme heat , once you remove it , the car runs totally different , it also has a second cat right under your shifter , no need for so much restriction on a 1.6 liter ,
no need to get fancy and break the piggy bank , i buy the catless downpipes from CNT racing $150 , its an R56 doesn't need anything better than that , i use a new OEM gasket , the ones they supply are garbage
on the 11 + cars with the N18 the factory downpipes are less restrictive and those dont get melted inside or clogged or at least i haven't seen one , if you have to run a catted downpipe because you have emissions in your state i would switch to the N18 one , which is plug and play

wanted to show you some thing , this car i just did this morning , you see all that white yellowish on the manifold thats extreme heat , this car was started for a few seconds just to drive it inside the shop , 30 minutes later it was still to hot that you couldn't touch the manifold and will burn you trying to remove the down pipe
