Hope you can help me. Recently, I purchased the JCW Sound Kit from the local dealer, and upon uploading the new JCW SK Software, I realized the VIN number (within the ECU) has changed from WMWRC32040TG53099 to WBAAA00000TG53099. The new VIN is also reflected on the JCW Cert.

Is this the norm? or is it a case of accident/error at the local dealer?

That seems very odd. My VIN did not change after my Sound Kit was installed. Do you mean that the VIN in your ECU now mismatches the VIN on the door and the strut tower?

 

That's odd, but to be honest, I never had the chance to check my VIN on my ECU after installation. I can't say it isn't normal.

 

the last 7 alphanumeric didn't change - was told that is the VIN.
but everything else in front of this 7 alphanumeric changes.

This is stated on the door and the strut tower = WMWRC32040TG53099
and this is found in the ECU & the JCW cert = WBAAA00000TG53099

How is it reflected in your JCW cert?

I will scan a copy of the cert as soon as i get hold of a scanner.

 

My car has kept the same VIN throughout its life, matching the VIN that was first given to me when the car was still on order. The Sound Kit was installed when it arrived at the dealer and the JCW cert shows the same VIN. I recently installed MTH tuning and the VIN it read from the ECU also matches the original. The full 17 alphanumeric VIN stayed the same.

 

Mine Matches up the same....
