Dinan Sport Performance Tuner - Yes !

I just installed the Dinatronics Sport Performance Tuner, into my 2024 JCW F57. Thought I'd post my impressions here.

I decided on this unit, over various more expensive tuning options, because I'm not tracking the car. I just want a fun GT for occasional canyon carving and such.
Because I live in an area where most roads have absurdly low speed limits, I figure it's best to go for more low-rpm torque, rather than high rpm HP. Plus, that keeps the noise down, so less chance of attracting the attention of Deputy Donut on the side of the road.
- And also a lot less gas-guzzling.

I would have happily spent a lot more $$$$ if needed, but Dinan's Seth Clayton convinced me that this unit gives exactly what I want. Typical Stage 1 tunes are weighted more towards high rpm power, and hence In my opinion these are best used for racing. Note: That opinion could change later on, but I doubt it.
---------------------

Well OK, so now it's installed, and I left it on the default setting of "Sport + " . That's one step down from the highest setting called "race". I don't have a smart phone so I can't try "race" at the moment (You need an app to change settings.)

My car has the 8 speed automatic, which (even stock) feels pretty good in auto-mode if you stand on it, but is sadly a bit sluggish when using the paddles.(I'm hoping the 2025 JCW's DCT can be retrofitted, but the chances look less than 50/50 right now.)

I'm running 93 octane, as always, and that's supposedly enough even for the "race" setting.
---------------------------------

MY INITIAL IMPRESSION:

YOWSA ! The difference isn't huge, but you feel it instantly, even as you pull away from the curb. My first thought was "I can't believe the JCW doesn't come like this from the factory." It's even better when using the paddles, as the overall power curve feels a tad stronger to me when slightly above the JCW's "sport" setting rpms.

Bottom Line: IMO this is the best mod you can make to a B48 for $240. I can't recommend it highly enough. - Unless, of course, you enjoy driving at 5500 rpm all the time.
--------------------------------

Also note that I have the Dinan input resonator delete pipe installed. This makes the engine sound fuller & deeper, which I love, but it probably (by itself) doesn't change the HP or torque very much.

I will soon be adding a performance intake, as soon as I decide between the Dinan and the sexy Eventuri "functioning hood scoop" unit. I imagine that THAT, combined with these other simple tweaks, should take things a small step further.
