I hope this is the right place to ask this question...
I am trying to replace my water pump on my 2018 2.0L Countryman All4. The space is considerably more cramped than my 2015 All4s. Is regular maintenance a "motor out" on these cars? The alternator bolt won't come out as it hits the frame rail before it can be removed. I suppose I might be able to wrestle the new water pump in without removing the alternator, but I thought I would ask my fellow enthusiasts if I'm doing something wrong.
If this is a "motor out" car, what's the easiest/most direct route to accomplishing this?
I currently have the car completely torn apart in my driveway: wheels off, bumper off, radiator out, inner wheel arch out, turbo charge pipe removed, right-side headlight removed, washer bottle removed, metal bracketry removed, plastic and rubber engine compartment trim pieces removed...I must be close to having everything off that needs to come off before the engine can come out.
I do have an engine hoist, but I really don't want to do this if I don't have to.
Any thoughts?
My Present Situation...
Alternator Bolt/Frame Interference
Thanks in advance, and if this would be better asked in another forum please feel free to direct me to the correct one.
