Can someone tell me what the actual differences are between the 2nd Gen JCW manual transmission and the S manual transmission. My understanding is that the transmissions are essentially the same but that the JCW version is uprated in some way. How, and where, is the JCW tranny uprated, and other differences?
Thanks!

I believe ...
The flywheel, pressure plate and clutch assemblies are different. Don't know about the gearing .... but would think so

The specs indicate that the gearing is the same for the JCW and S manual transmission.

I don’t think on the 2nd gen cars. I was under the impression that 2nd gen JCWs had the electronic e-diff feature, nd mechanical LSD stopped after the R53 ended.

Pretty sure the only difference is the flywheel and maybe pressure plate, at least on later 2nd gen JCWs. I haven’t looked at RealOEM.com in a while…

My understanding is that the mechanical LSD option ended with the 2010 model year. I had a 2009 MC S 6MT (RIP) that had a rare optional mechanical LSD. 2010 models were to only get the electronic diff. The mechanical LSD in my old 2009 S was awesome. It should have been made standard equipment.
