Mini warranty
Mini warranty
Can anyone suggest a good extended warranty company I can go with for my JCW? I’ve been contacting MINI now for the last two weeks and they keep telling me they’re going to get back to me with a quote and they never do and my warranty is almost up.
"Good"and "Extended warranty" are an oxymoron in my book. The companies that provide warranties are in the business to MAKE MONEY. They do this by comparing how much they bring in to how much they pay out. It's a form of gambling for the buyer. At best, the warranty covers something that is more expensive than what you paid. But, the companies already thoroughly studied how likely that is, and adjust the premium accordingly. Coming it at second best, it buys piece of mind for the purchaser. "I'll spend 3000.00 now to be sure I won't have to spend 4000.00 later." But, remember, the company charging you 3000.00 has already studied this scenario, and, like the House in Las Vegas, the House always wins overall. You could get "lucky" and have a covered claim. You are more likely to get "lucky' and NOT spend that 3000.00 at all, and use that for preventative maintenance instead.
It's your money, but, I'd rather "self-insure", or sell the car before it goes out of warranty, and use the 3000.00 plus the proceeds from your sale and buy a car under manufacturer's warranty. Best of wishes to you!

As mentioned, either start working on the car yourself, or learn how to. Invest the extended warranty payments into yourself.
If you absolutely can’t work on the car yourself, consider trading up to a newer model. If anything goes wrong with the car, and you have to pay a mechanic to work on it, you’re going to be spending a bunch. And many of those so called “warranty” companies make you pay up front, the review the repairs to determine if it will be converted for reimbursement.
