JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 1st Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs are discussed.
Hmm. I'm a bit older. In my more, "heyday / younger days", we did things to "lessen" the badging to make our cars lesser than they really are. Like taking "SS" badges off, or replacing the cubic inch badge with a smaller number badge (409 to 283). Yeah, still trying to "fool" the next guy, but trying to give your car a step or three a higher grade than it deserves..?
Just seems pretty odd, to try to make your car, "MORE" than it really is. Stand up and beat that chest..!

I'm not sure if anyone posting here is trying to make their car "MORE" than it really is! This was an accessory for the R5* series of JCW cars, which I would assume most who have posted here have. Now if we were talking about re-badging with Ferrari or even GP emblems we might be guilty of "trying to give your car a step or three a higher grade than it deserves.." as you said. Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth! Which sadly isn't much😀
The JCW side scuttles with the badges were only found on the R50 cars with the sound kit, and the tuning kit. I also have these on my '06 R52 car, while I know these were not available or "correct" for my car, I liked them enough to the tune of making a set to put on my car.
If I ever decide to sell the car, I will remove these and put the stock, boring "S" scuttle vents back on. I will also let the homemade "JCW" badges go with the car. I'm not trying to make my car "more than it really is", because my car is already a factory R52 JCW and I can prove it to anyone who wants to know.
I also have been informed by a number of members in here and on Facebook that the "font is wrong".....so I tell them that this badge was not available for any car after the R50, and if they want to purchase me the "correct" style badges, I will more than be happy to install them just to appease them.
So, for the time being, the "wrong" scuttle vents with the JCW badge will stay on my car for as long as I own it because I like it that way
people that think negative on these cars should remember the mini was a car created for the average person who wanted to enhance and modify it to suit their own tastes and to be enjoyed, be it with only period correct parts of ones from a parts store,
I am hosting a JCW National Day Event here in the UK with Frank Stephenson the world famous car designer as my VIP guest this coming sunday who created the modern mini amongst so many other special cars, and unusual for the UK the weather forecast in Warm and sunny
Not great pictures, But here is mine before and after.
Looks good from the pictures...if you are happy, that's all that counts. Personally, I think you need the darker side lenses so the JCW badge stands out more...my opinion
I think I have a video of the side blinker working as well...let me look
