Stock size is 225/40? You should have no issue running 235/40 on stock rims.

Tire sizes vary slightly between manufacturers, but you’re only adding ~10mm of tire width. Half that width would be on the strut side. Measure you’re clearance to the strut, and you’ll know exactly how much more tire you can put in there.
