18 or 19 inch wheels?

Hey all,

I am debating on what size wheels to run with my summer rubber. I currently have 18’s as the factory wheels (runflats) on my F54 JCW and lowered on KW V1’s. I do enjoy aggressive cornering but this Mini is more family-focused. I am coming from a R53 which had 18’s on 215/35 rubber so it was a pretty harsh ride. I am curious to know how many of you run an 18 versus 19 inch setup. Below is a pic of my Mini in its current state:

I stayed with 17inch wheels, as they are lighter, and you can work in a bit more sidewall to make the ride a bit more comfy. 19's would require a much lower profile tire, which would make the ride more harsh. I personally wouldn't go bigger than 18.

Driving them back to back at my dealer, I'm surprised by how smoothly the Clubman rides with 19s. However, the big difference I noticed is noise. More tire drone and clapping on bumps. The only 19 inch tire I've driven on a Clubman was a Dunlop, so maybe others will be better, but it also had stock Cooper S suspension.

Your car looks awesome by the way. Is that the OutMotoring headlight and Taillight trim kit?

I has all the chrome painted body color except the belt line where I put vinyl. The rear end looked to busy with all that badging and chrome 😄

What size rubber are you running? Debating about going up one size to a 205/50/17 to get a bit more comfy as well. Do not have Dynamic Damping.

I stayed on 17’s as well. Just switched to Falken Pro G4’s in a 205/50/17. Fills up the wheel well better and a bit more cushion. Our roads are not the greatest. 35 series on 18’s would cost me a lot of rims.
