5000 RPM Power drop sometimes

Several times this week I noticed that I'm getting a flat spot in the revs right at 5000 rpm in 3rd and 4th gear in hard acceleration. This is when I'm pulling out to pass several cars on a 2 lane road and accelerating full throttle from lets say 55 to 95. It's very odd because first 2 times it happened I thought it was my imagination and I only thought it was happening in 3rd gear. I then noticed that it can happen in 4th gear as well. The first time I thought i had hit the rev limiter then after second time I realized I was 1500+ rpm away from hitting it.

Any thoughts?

Replace or clean your air filter.

2016 JCW. 35,000 miles. Burger JB4. K&N Typhoon Intake etc. It's not the air filter. I recall reading an auto magazines review of the car at some point where the author noted something similar. I can't seem to find at the moment with a google search.
