Although the suspension set up for heavy RF tires. I run non rf's all year round. This is my 6th Mini.
The difference in performance and cost makes it well worth while IMHO.
I run x-ice 3's in winter and pilot SS in summer.
As far as fixing tires on winter...I live in Canada too. I keep one of these in my boot. These work like a charm unless the tire is ripped.
